We are already in the early stages in the UK I think At least that is what I am hearing from multiple sources
When Trump went to NoKo, did he take Bolton or Pompeo? Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler It’s a trick question! He took Tucker Carlson!
Are y'all following this little dust up amongst Ivanka Trump, AOC and Piers Morgan? Kind of funny in a catty sort of way: Barbie goes to the G20 with dad for some unfathomable reason and AOC calls her out for being unqualified as a diplomat. Piers Morgan gets his undies in a bunch and comes to Barbie's defense saying something about "AOC was a bartender 18 months ago so who is unqualified?" I don't feel like chasing down a link, but its worth checking out. The twitter video of Ivanka trying to talk to some diplomats who are openly rolling their eyes and turning their backs on her is really cringey. Anyway, its worth a look.
You'd get an atomic wedgie from Meatball or Kong in my elementary school with a name like this: Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson
He is the elected (at least through the electoral college) President of the United States. That, for better or worse, is his qualification. He is an embarrassment but he has the right to be at the G20. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is a duly elected member of Congress. That is her qualification. Ivanka Trump has no official position within government. She has no qualification to be at the G20.
Morgan would slice off his own balls with a rusty knife if Trump asked him and it meant a sniff at power
Princess Royal is being groomed to ascend the throne. Just one more reason why it is critical to get the crooks out of the white house
@sarahkendzior remains the Casandra on this stuff. Even when Trump is on the world stage selling out US interests with his daughter in broad daylight, there is a reluctance to call it out.
This kind of scolding from the GOP refugees kind of summarises what has been bugging me lately. Surely the people who will be to blame for 4 more years of Trump will be the people who vote for him. and vote GOP in the senate races (assuming Dems can hold the house) It's kind of tiresome Democrats, if you think Biden is the wrong guy to take the fight to Trump, great. But *how* you take him out matters. Republicans are not going to adopt your narratives in the general election. They will use everything happening right now, in ways you still refuse to understand.— Tom Nichols (@RadioFreeTom) June 30, 2019 We should just ditch this whole primary thing and just have a small panel of Never Trump Republicans solomonically decide which Democrat would make them most comfortable.— Chris Hayes (@chrislhayes) June 28, 2019 I can see Wilson's argument that if the Dems field a candidate who can straddle the centre vacated by the GOP, then Trump is done.
Pretty much all the Dem candidates straddle the center, except for being racist. Most people want to preserve and/or extend the ACA, raise minimum wage, address climate control at least in a modest way, maintain Roe-Wade, increase infrastructure investment, and so forth. So for me, these "move to the middle" arguments inevitably become "be somebody who is more appealing to Joe the Plumber," which means "be whiter." It's gonna be hard for a Democratic candidate to do that and win the nomination. Which for me, is alright. I'm fine with the Democratic party rejecting the concept that being whiter means being better.
One of the problems down the track is that any Dem POTUS probably can't deliver anything if corrupt McConnell remains in power. So in critical respects this election is about saving the ACA, rolling back trump's environmental damage and restoring normalcy to key institutions, trade relations, international relations etc But actual voters need help - and its hard to see how the Dems can deliver on any bigger plans without the senate
22 of the 34 contested seats in the 2020 Senate race are held by Republicans, If they take the Presidency, the Dems have a realistic chance to beat the structural odds by winning a majority in the Senate. It wouldn't take a blue wave to do that, just a solid blue trend.
For the most part I agree with you, but the Dems are playing with fire on immigration. Having undocumented people eligible for Medicare4All is very dangerous electorally. So is a policy that could semi-honestly be depicted as for open borders. I'm pretty liberal, and even *I* oppose those 2 policies.
I think what is bad is letting the narrative get hijacked about very peripheral issues Healthcare proved to be a very popular issue for Dems in 2018 so I don't agree that 2020 is 100% a referendum on Trump But it would be a good idea not to get down in the weeds too much
Yes, they need to tighten that part up. I think it makes sense to separate the border control issue from the benefits. On border control, the Dems believe in maintaining U.S. borders, but doing so humanely. These people shouldn't be treated worse than war criminals. On benefits, those who file U.S. taxes receive them, those who do not file U.S. taxes do not.
Kaiser's survey shows that 56% of Americans favor getting their insurance from a single government entity, and 38% do not. https://www.kff.org/slideshow/publi...ns-and-expanding-access-to-medicare-coverage/ I am wary of these arguments about policies being political suicide, because Republicans often run on proposals that are unpopular in the polls, and people vote for them anyway.
I personally like having my private insurance. Issue is Medicare4all is awkward and clunky and with no clear message for things such as those who might want private health insurance. It gives an opportunity for people to think it means no other options. England does have the National Health Service but one also has the option of buying private health insurance.
