    Net approval of +20 is 60-40 approve-disapprove. Here are the biggest net approval states by margin according to Morning Consult:

    AL +24, WY +22, WV +19, MS and TN and ID at +18, KY +15, LA +14, OK +12.

    Of course none of those states are meaningful in terms of 2020 though.

    We earned the right to secede. I hate to point this out, but without California, Trump wins the popular vote in the United States. Never mind the electoral college.

    No kidding. If CA decides to cut and run, destroying our last shred of electoral hope in the process, I will road trip out there for a “park tour”. With a flamethrower. And likeminded friends.

    On the other hand, if The Deep South is feeling nostalgic for the Confederacy...who am I to say no? We could use some political refugees in the lower Midwest to restore its political sanity.

    I think it is more similar to the Brexit party.

    Trumpism is a cultish ideology - revolutionary in nature rather than a political strategy. Adopting more and more extreme views is about control of the movement even as the movement becomes overall less popular in electoral terms.

    The tories have virtually destroyed their own party, yet the response of Bojo is to swing even harder towards Brexitism. This isn't electoral strategy but pure ideological politics.

    If there is any strategy to Trumpism, imo it is focussed on the right. Trumps racism forces GOPers to rationalise, and adopt more extreme positions themselves. It increases Trumps power over them, even as he is perhaps the weakest President in history

    There are clearly numerous party members who think this is a very bad idea - and they were already proved right in 2018

    If Texas, for example, wants to succeed they need to be reminded that that will make Trumps wall a lot longer and they will have to pay for it.

    As for theScalia file...The basic function of 'American Conservatism' and all the institutions it effects, is to protect the corporate and powerful from coalitions of the individual and powerless. This also happens to be the main purpose for the current method of American policing. All the everyday stuff they do is simply maintenance in anticipation of the day they are needed. Mark my words, we will have an American Peterloo.

    You should be -50, at least. You didn't vote for him in 2016, so he punished you by repeatedly blaming your local officials for wildfires. Meanwhile he never says bleep about Southern states when they suffer hurricanes, just promises them money ASAP.

    If Obama had ********ed with Texas like that because it voted for McCain, he would have been down 75-25 in the Texas polls.

    Yeah, I know. The call of white nationalism is so strong that about half of white people will vote for Trump even if he attacks other things that they stand for and believe in. Thus, normally they love and defend California, but if Trump pisses on the state they pretend that didn't happen because, you know, white people.

    Well, at least he's gaining any ground in California. Some small consolation, I suppose.

    Iran says it has arrested 17 CIA spies, the President of the United States denies the claim. Could Iran be an even bigger liar than Donald Trump?

    We will see, but I suspect not. For whoppers, Tump is pretty much impossible to beat

    That's a serious problem. A liar will not be believed even when he speaks the truth. And this could be the reason for war. Also, Trump wants to ridicule the other side. That's not how you find solutions in international crises.
