No, but Mooch just lost a speaking gig. "Scaramucci disinvited from Florida GOP fundraiser for bashing Trump's 'racially charged' attacks" https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/18/anthony-scaramucci-florida-gop-fundraiser-1419204 I imagine Mooch will be a bit more "supportive" the next time he is asked to opine on Trump.
Insane isn't it. But this is the problem. No matter how crazy Trump gets, the GOP rationalises going with him
GOP: If you don't let racist provocateurs speak on college campuses, you're against freedom of speech! Also GOP: We can't let that guy show up at our event because of something he said.
That tweet . . .man. So, to put it another way, the fact that he acted like a racist at some earlier time and people called him out for it means that somebody who acts like even more of a racist now *can't* be called out for it? I hope that's the stupidest thing I read today, because otherwise, it's going to be a really bad day.
So the Cohen warrant material dropped today - with clear evidence of criminality by POTUS and the involvement of Hicks Just your standard Thursday in which the president's supporters say it's no big deal that he basked in their racist chants to deport a minority member of Congress who disagrees with him while unsealed court documents show he orchestrated a criminal conspiracy to commit a felony. https://t.co/dIGQQ9nrsO— Brian Klaas (@brianklaas) July 18, 2019
This might be the worst response yet. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told reporters in the Capitol on Thursday morning that the phrase “send her back” was not inherently racist, and maintained that Trump’s attack against Omar was rooted not in racial animosity but instead provoked by her outspoken opposition to the president. “I’ve said before that if you're Somali refugee wearing a ‘MAGA’ hat, he doesn't want to send you back. You’ll probably have dinner at the White House,” Graham said. “The bottom line is that if you embrace his policies, it doesn't matter where you come from, he probably likes you,” he added. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/18/republicans-send-her-back-chant-1420305
And then I read the next paragraphs... Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), who joined Trump for the rally, dismissed the chants Thursday morning during an appearance on Fox News. “Any time you get into a crowd like that and you’ve got a lot of supporters, they’re going to say what they want to say,” he said. “We’ve got to shift the attention back to some of the positions that they're taking that are extreme,” he added. “Now the media here on Capitol Hill only want to talk about parsing the president's words. I’m not going to answer a question of them unless they come back and talk about the things that actually lit this candle — and It's the extreme positions taken by AOC, Omar and the so-called ‘gang.’” Asked to respond to characterizations of the rally attendees in his home state as racist, Tillis answered: “I refuse to take that bait. This is about people who want to change America. This is about people who have a socialist vision for the United States.”
They do love to call people socialists. It reminds me of another word that was often used in the past:
If you're a murderer, sexual abuser, or thief who embraces his policies, it also doesn't matter where you come from, The Donald will like you. Indeed, those are most of his friends.
That, and the fact that it's a naked admission that Trump as President is not working in the interest of all Americans. Just those who like him.
Or, to put it another way, calling a black person a ______ isn't bigoted if you don't use that term to refer to black people who like you. Right. The sad part isn't that Graham said this. The sad part is that there are millions and millions of Americans for whom that "reasoning" will make sense.
I also find it insane the way all this is justified via the spectre of AOC and the "extreme left" extreme being wanting to do something about climate change, pay people living wage, make sure they have health care, etc etc Meanwhile the GOP wants to rob the health care from millions of people - not at all extreme I just can't take seriously this kind of fake equivalence
Stumbled across a right-wing discussion thread. They were all convinced that the only racist things had been said by the Mod Squaders. I never did learn what those racist statements were.
Well current right wing thinking seems to be that if you point out racism, you're actually the one who's being racist, so it could've been something as simple as that. Bizarro Logic in full effect.
Thing is... if anything we vastly underrated how deep the racist, nativist rot went. I gave those type of people the benefit of the doubt. That is confirmed by all the conservative "tenets" that have been thrown out with this bathwater. I sort of had an idea that a lot of them were full of shit. Not this many. My bad. Lesson learned.

I am glad I never did... We (POC's, AA, minorities) keep telling you all that, but you didn't want to believe it. We knew it because we live everyday.
