The Dems won the 2018 elections, and nothing's been done. The dehumanization and police brutality and 911 calls from this or that Becky, and the fear of trying to impeach have not abated. At some point, you're going to figure out that this conservative movement is now riding on the shoulders of mainstream American individuals, and cannot be stopped by normal legislative means. That's been my main point all along, election win or not. Bless your heart. Maybe you do return to an Internet message board to make sure everyone knows how forthright you are when a prediction doesn't pan out as completely as you imagined. I didn't see your posts, not because I ignored them, but because I don't really care if you get a prediction or five wrong. I'm just not monitoring your posts that closely, sorry.
They're right where you left them. It was you who wanted to include only a portion of either prediction you're challenging.

From the Hannity is just like Maddow files... .@MattWhitaker46 I hope you’re ready to get sued for defamation for claiming falsely that the whistleblower tried to leak the information to the Washington Post. https://t.co/0xckfGBpaE— Bradley P. Moss (@BradMossEsq) September 21, 2019
I'd add Lyz Lenz - she is not conservative but comes from the heart of Trumpistan. She basically broke up with her Evangelical Church and Trumpy husband at once after Nov 2016 and wrote a book about it. Also neo-lib Frum has written some good stuff (including pre-trump) about how the GOP got on the wrong side of the US public on healthcare.
I think ETTD currently remains the seminal work on the fundamental self-destruction of movement conservatism - although it is only a side narrative of the book I hope a proper historian is planning to delve into all this. As also mentioned by Frum, the tea party (old wealth white people) essentially flowed into the rise of paranoid/cray politicians like Bachman and later Trump. Perhaps inspired by the rise of conspiracy theory as politics that arose during the Obama years (remember Glenn Beck?) Gate keepers like Matt Schapp invited the cray into heart of the party because Trump at CPAC got the ratings. We fast reached the point where conservatism could no longer claim to be a policy based, reality based force in US politics. Wilson goes into all this but without much detail. A similar thing has happened int the UK where the Tories are being eaten from the inside by the populist virus. I think the difference there is you have former PMs, Chancellors etc opposing, whereas in the US, everyone just fell into line.

Good ad by the Biden camp. Desperate Donald Trump knows that I can beat him, so now he’s enlisting the help of a foreign government — once again. It’s an abuse of power and violates every basic norm of the presidency. We cannot give him four more years in the White House.https://t.co/cqhkBUviAs pic.twitter.com/vXmH3lTW6k— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) September 21, 2019
And I fear that most plans by proper historians these days may be all taken up with guns, quinine tablets, and canned goods...
Yeah - maybe we can rely on the oral histories at starvation cove? But seriously it is quite interesting, and I think a companion piece would be the way the Tories under Cameron & May ended up huffing on nationalism - and inviting that crap deep into the party
The 1st paragraph in the snippet is ridiculous. Everything modern Republicans do shows contempt for democracy. From voter suppression to turning our backs on old allies to supporting Trump's crimes then doing their all to hide them.

I like the episode they did thinking about how they responded to either the Individual One election or 9/11, I forget which - I think it was the former. It was a good introspective by them and I like how they clearly acknowledged each other's positions and differences, and how they address the stories they do. I like Bob a bit more, even though he does tend to get a bit conspiratorial.
Like asking a man in the street "is it wrong for a young man to snatch the purse of a 90 year old lady walking with a cane?" "Well now, I don't work in law enforcement so I don't really feel qualified to discuss it"
A few comments from the past few days and reading here: 1 - Who the hell is Rich Lowrey? 2 - I am surprised nobody (particularly in the media) has brought up Individual One's defense is that he has many calls with world leaders. FFS, none of them have been flagged like the one being talked about, so it must have been much worse than the others. 3 - And IIRC, somebody reported that there were 4 calls. Has that number been rescinded? disputed? 4 - The Republicans being who they are is a problem in itself. They want to live as if it is the early 1950s, at least socially, and are making it an effort to be that way. And I'm not talking just about those governing, but about rank and file party members.
The establishment were never going to save us Pelosi, Mattis, Mueller etc etc - all failed to stand tall From my book "The View From Flyover Country" written in 2017. Tapper wonders aloud about people's kids being influence peddlers This is perhaps not the best messaging strategy that the administration is rolling out here. Why is it ok for the president's children to have international business dealings but not the vice president's son? The secretary won't answer that. https://t.co/wqhg1y8tvw— Shane Harris (@shaneharris) September 22, 2019
I've said before that I think those governing are doing the bidding of the rank and file so that said rank and file will continue to keep them in power. This shit about God and country is a very thin bone intended for the poor, for the most part. GOP policy doesn't offer anything to anyone but the wealthy, but a few crosses and eagles can pacify their masses.
