Hate to say - Spurs have been impressive in the league for their lack of squad size and no investment
One of the strongest own goals you will see by Lerma in the Arsenal and Bournemouth game today. 1-1 at the half. Bournemouth is a handful.
Until today, I had never heard of this Lemar chap. Whichever way you look at it, that's spectacular goal.
Sevilla, hasta la muerte!! Crazy that Alaves (remember them?) had a chance to go top this weekend but lost a winnable match. POS TEAM GP GD PTS 1 Sevilla FC 13 +11 26 2 Barcelona 13 +16 25 3 Atletico 13 +8 24 4 Alavés 13 +4 23 5 Espanyol 13 +4 21 6 Real 13 +1 20 7 Girona 13 +1 20 8 Levante 13 -1 18 9 Eibar 13 -3 18 10 Valencia 13 +2 17
most competitive year I can remember since Atletico last won. how are Sevilla doing it? I'm asking seriously as I don't know much about them since we last played them (wait that was last year).
@newterp - yes, it was only last year. Here's how I see it (have only been able to watch at least a half of 6 matches this year, so my anecdotal evidence is limited but the themes should carry through): New coach (again) and he's carried on the tradition of outperforming in his time as a Sevillano. Machin has all the style one associates with a bookish, awkward middle school literature teacher, but he's shown surprising flexibility. Even with the loss of Monchi, we went the full 'wheeler dealer' routine this summer. Out went Lenglet, Nzonzi, and Correa and in came a raft of players (Maxime Gonalons, Andre Silva, and Quincy Promes the most recognized names) while still making a 15m euro profit. Injuries hit Machin's preferred CM pairing and forced him to abandon his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation and we've been playing quite well with a 4-3-3. We have nobody that could have ever previously been described as a 'defensive midfielder' but it's really working. Andre Silva has been the player Milan thought they bought a year ago. He leads the league in goals (I think) and has given us a new dimension. And ben yedder isn't far behind him in # of goals scored. And finally, with all the dealing the club has been famous for, we do have a large squad of players of similar quality and Machin has done a lot of rotating to keep everyone fresh and rested.
Lyon is showing how to deal with city don't give up before kick off. They should have been two up by now
Took an injury time handball winner from Elbows for underdog Man You to defeat the Mighty Young Boys 1-0. At Old Trafford. In front of a half empty stadium. In the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
