Amazingly Wayne Rooney has changed DC United's fortunes big time - from last place to a good chance of the playoffs.
I've prolly mentioned this before. Old farts tend to do that. One of the cleaners that worked for the airline I was with. Took a short section of aluminum hydraulic tube and sharpened one end to a chisel point. Then he cut these 1/2 dia holes in his scalp and proceeded to tape hair...from various body parts in them. I'm not sure if it would have worked because the clinic cleaned them out to clear up the infection it caused. Interesting guy. He always carried a camera with him, pre digital days. When asked why. He said one day he'll run into Jesus and wanted to be sure he got a photo. It would have been a first selfie. Don't know what happened to him. He fell out of the door of a plane, on the ground, one shift and broke an arm. I'd moved on before he came back.
He was just a cleaner. Not to belittle his job. He'd be one of the first on a plane after a flight to check the seat pockets for wallets and watches. The Airline is now defunct. Western Air Lines was taken over by Delta early 80s. Relax !!!
crazy co-workers .... years ago I worked (in Liverpool) in a government job that involved interviewing the public. one guy in the office liked to do the interviews naked from the waist up - except for his favourite bike helmet. plus he didn't have a bike of course.
Never thought I would type these words, but do we want ManU to win on Sat? Two advantages - takes 3 points off Chelsea and keeps Mourinho in his job? I am conflicted!
when 2 teams in close oppo to us play each other, a draw is the only valid preference. I don't want either of them coming out of the game feeling good for any reason. in this case, Manure getting a point just continues their torture and the delightful non-stop media bashing
I worked the airlines for awhile too. One job was supervising a shift of cleaners. The initiation rite for the new guy was to have him drain the bathroom tank; he was instructed to open the valve and check the opening closely before fitting the drain hose. Gives new meaning to the term shitfaced.
Credit to Rooney for putting in the effort to make such a difference, but it is also a stark reminder of the relative level of MLS. You've got to put the work in to succeed, but it doesn't take all that much talent to standout.
That's a gross simplification. He could very easily still be playing in the Premier League, as could Zlatan.
rumours saying that Moaninho wants Zlatan to come back to Manure in January, and Zlatan is up for it.
He was a part time player for teams finishing outside the top 4 the past 2 seasons, so yeah I guess he could still do that.
I think Steve was 3 years older when he started - 35? His legs were gone already. Rooney is a couple of years younger I believe...and to be fair he hasn't really been running the last few seasons with Yernited and Everton.
While there is no direct correlation - the cynic in me is annoyed that Rudinger - who pulled out of international duty due to a groin injury - is helping Chelski keep a clean sheet and has scored a thumping header against United.
