He is was a goal scoring wide player, iirc. He started out wide at Dortmund too, until Lewandowski left. But I’m old and may not be remembering right. All I’m saying is if you look at the strengths and weaknesses of Theo and him, it’s kinda the same.
"you're just a shit Aaron Lennon" ... well, now Everton have two shit Aaron Lennons. I've always kinda liked Walcott, though, truth be told. Came off as a decent fella in a time where that's rather a lot to ask of a football star. Showed proper respect for the rivalry, to my mind, playing the pantomime villain without carrying it over into dickheadedness. We'll still give him stick when he comes to the new Lane, and I'm sure he'll wind us up if he scores there. All as it should be. Good luck to Theo ... more than I've wished him heretofore, to be sure.
Yeah. We should get a better player in Auba. Someone who should win us more points. But he won't likely be a good dude like Theo. Someone who plays for the club, the team, the fans... rather than for himself. Too bad we can't combine the person that's Theo and the talent that's Auba.
And now they are back to 1 shit Aaron Lennon. Robbing us of seeing Shit Lennon and slight less Shit Lennon on the wings.
The only Lennon who should be mentioned in the same sentence as Walcott is John. “Imagine no ACL tear...”
Walcott, dontcha wanna get outta North London, outta North London tonight..... [apologies to Ezra Koenig]
Thank you. Once a Gunner, always a Gunner. https://t.co/2h41JsjTXU— Theo Walcott (@theowalcott) August 18, 2023
Walcott's interview with Neville on the Overlap is quite decent I have to say his tale of how Ramsey and RvP came to blows kind of sums up the gulf in quality between the two players IMO. But also fairly typical in pro sports - at least in teams I've followed.
Was a good interview. Kind of crazy the story about the locker room scuffle. That match was Easter Sunday if I recall correctly.
I thought the locker room story was good? RvP was simply that much of a crazy goal hound that he wanted afters in a game Arse one. This kind of stuff has happened a lot down the years in the all blacks. I am not a fan of the weak mentality takes but I do think it is true Wenger had a lack of truly elite standards in his last 5 years or so
How many times have you known the hard-ass really Socratic professor, and then years on down the line, hear from current students that the guy is sooo nice. It happens.
Yeah, apparently most of the team wasn't too fond of RvP. Doesn't Theo make fun of him in his bio? And yet Dennis was mostly loved. Anyway, I wasn't disputing your premise, obviously, losing the drive to be ruthless and really push people happens to many as they age/mature, especially if they've already had a measure of success. Also, while I don't usually countenance pop psychology speculation, I can't help but wonder if Cesc leaving broke Wenger a bit.
