Spain is not England. I'm happy for him, and would be happy to have a player of his caliber in the squad. But, this was best for club and player.

Yeah - great player but lets try to cut down on the long term sick notes in the squad!

    And the rebirth continues.

Santi with a vital brace to draw against Real to take them above relegation.

I cried a little inside when I saw the headline. So happy for him he gets to have a proper swan song. Wish he could have stayed at arsenal though. One of my faves all time.

Santi and Cesc were my favorite late-Wenger era players.

Just watched the extended highlights of Atleti vs Villareal. As seems to be fairly typical this season, Santi started and played the full 90.

He's plays left-sided midfield. He seems to have retained all of his fantastic passing ability, and to be keeping up with the pace of La Liga.

I try to watch Villarreal highlights this year,as much as I can, because of him. And I must say the experience is bittersweet.

I'm really really happy for him because of how much I liked him at Arsenal, what a good dude he is in general, and what he had to go through with his Achilles.

But I'm also pretty sad when I think of what he could still be doing for us. Sure the EPL has got faster pace and bigger physical requirements, but I think he's showing us this year that we may have given up on him too soon.

Nah mate he would have got done 8 games into the season. You see what passes for a yellow card in La Liga?

Sounds like you might've worked for Arsenal or its medical team in 2018? ;)

I saw him play against Sevilla and destroy Sevilla. As a supporter of Sevilla, it was humbling but how could I begrudge someone who plays with so much joy?

Once again Santi has been recalled to the Spain squad for their Euro qualifiers.

Maybe not as big a shocker this time as last spring, but still truly amazing.

The Santi comeback story continues! :)

Once we lost Santi we kinda lost our way. Sadly him being sidelined really put the nail in the coffin for Wenger. That match vs Man City when he bossed that midfield was truly amazing. I'm glad his comeback story is still kicking.

He was a joy to watch. Regardless of how much it effected Arsenal I'm just sorry for him how injuries cut into his time on the pitch.
