From Kimmich's performances in the Confederations Cup and WC 2018 qualifiers, he has quickly shown to be a critical member of the national team.. Joshua Kimmich has now recorded 9 assists; more than any other player in European World Cup 2018 qualifying. Can't stop, won't stop. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/wZVcIcd4cu— Squawka (@Squawka) October 8, 2017 Joshua Kimmich has played every single minute of Germany’s last 23 games; the longest run since Berti Vogts (26 games). Future captain? Kimmich has the captain's armband for the remainder of the game 🇩🇪#GERAZE pic.twitter.com/tx6YT4LUH2— 🇺🇸 FC Bayern US 🇨🇦 (@FCBayernUS) October 8, 2017
http://www.dw.com/de/joshua-kimmich-kapitän-mit-22/a-40868752 Quote from article: Technically versed, fast and also offensive as a flanker, preparer and enforcer, Joshua Kimmich is actually a more complete player than Lahm ever was. He has already scored three goals and is assisting twelve. And the error rate gets lower, the position game safer. Against Azerbaijan he also set up two goals again, bringing peace into the game, if necessary and having a feel for when tempo was needed. Unfazed, he simply does his job, assumes responsibility. Without great tones, without great gestures. In the absence of Toni Kroos, he takes every corner, and when Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels and Thomas Müller are not on the field, then the captain's bandage is not too big for him.
Unbelieveable talented player, one of my favorites! Future captain and the future of the NT. He got one game at the Euro's and has since then been bankers on a formidable German team. Very versitile player, and I barely see him do mistakes. Defensively he's top and is a beast at the right side of the pitch for Germany.
Joshua Kimmich may not be the most eye-catching (I can argue he is) but he is a special player.23 consecutive full games for Germany. 🙇 pic.twitter.com/1Nu7k9tAEm— Jake Entwistle (@JakeEntwistle) October 8, 2017
http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/w...-gegen-aserbaidschan-binde-53476174.bild.html Why did young Kimmich wear the captain's armband? When Müller was replaced in the 70th minute, Joshua Kimmich (age 22) was our captain. Reason: At this time, he was the player with the most of international games experience (23 matches). The Bayern star: "That was surprising, I'm not going into the game and thinking: 'Today I wear the armband'. I did not expect them to get me when Thomas left. It was definitely a huge moment, which felt very good."
Germany is very fortunate that Kimmich signed for Bayern. For every other German club he would have been "too good" to play right back. Thankfully, Bayern's midfield already had enough top players and Lahm was leaving. Otherwise Kimmich would have been yet another talented midfielder lining up for Germany's most overcrowded position. And Löw would still be playing centre backs and midfielders out of position at right back.
Problem is ......... is Loew gonna choose a backup RB for WC2018? If Kimmich is injured we're in big trouble,. Loew might choose only 3 fullbacks and i think they are Kimmich, Hector and Plattenhardt.
Yes, that's certainly possible with Löw. Last WC Germany might have gone out against Algeria if Mustafi hadn't been injured and Löw was forced to play Lahm at right back again. That will forever be Mustafi's greatest contribution to the German NT. Btw., Hector isn't even playing left back for Köln these days. He is another full back who became "too good" for that position and has to be a midfielder instead.
