Re: The Ri Tadanari thread hey goru, that avatar... is that you? lol and you guys still haven't answered my question about Tadanari
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread why should we have a thread for such a mediocre player? he's a benchwarmer even in j-league. really annoying.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread wtf are you talking about? when he came in, japan was already leading. yes, he scored one. but he was invisible except for the goal.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread Score was Malaysia 1 : Japan 2 If it wasn't for your mediocre player Japan would've ended up with a draw.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread Since Takayoki here is showing his inferiority complex by sending me racial PMs and having blocked incoming private messages, I have no choice but to reply it here. Now out of mere respect, I won't post what you said here but if you're man about it say it here.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread lol. just have a look at the rating of this thread. anyways, i don't think he deserves to wear the blue jersey. he must get a regular spot at his club kashiwa reysol. his main competitor at his club, 21-year-old Sugawara is a starting player and has already scored 3 goals in j-league. but he didn't get a call-up to the national squad. it shows how sorimachi is a terrible manager and loves the korean-japanese player.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread Actually, believe it or not I agree with you. We will see, how Ri does in other Olympic Qualifier. And as soon as I say that Ri scores for Kashiwa.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread "Lee" is originally Chinese name(same as many of Korean names) "Li(李)", so while ancestors of some Lees just adopted or changed their names to Chinese-like names in the past, other ancestors of some Lees would have been acturally Chinese "Li". But Since they became Korean, in Korea they are spelled as "Lee" in a Korean way of alphabet spelling, not "Li". So what is wrong about spelling as "Ri"(Japanese way of spelling) when he became Japanese? Or do you guys use "Li Dong guk" or "Li Young Pyo"? Both Chinese Li and Korean Lee are spelled as "Ri" in Japan. In any case he is 李忠成. Good luck to him.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread Amaze how mods do what they shoud AFTER I say something act like they was gone do it all along So you and Takoyuki is wrong then?
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread You can start a thread on your favorite player/topic, if you prefer. Threads are not started only according to a player's performance, by the way. Ri is definitely a particular player, and he is generating a lot of interest.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread Well, he seems happy, today... http://www.jsgoal.jp/photo/00021400/00021406.html

Re: The Ri Tadanari thread family names are of less import to the Japanese since most of the Japanese did not have a family name till just over a 100years ago. only the ruling classes in Japan had family names in a clan like structure.....some of them with Korean origins. During the Meiji reforms the peasants and others were artificially given family names usually based upon a certain landmark they lived near by, ie. middle of a field, by a river. First names were very simple as well, usually naming children like "first son" second son" etc. They were given arbitary surnames for tax purposes. Before each feudal lords taxed their own peasants so surnames were not needed, as people roughly knew who was who within their community. But with the change over into central government collection of taxes, surnames had to be created to distinguish one ichiro (first son) to the next. this is why to an average Japanese person family names dont mean much, as they were arbitary and with very short history. If you were not of the ruling class in Japan you would hardly know who your grand father was let alone your great grandfather. Koreans on the other hand have long records of their family name history, and take much pride and stock in it. Of course some are more serious on how much import they place in it. Even peasants and the servant classes had family names. Also for example there were captured chinese/manchu/mongol etc soldiers or villagers brought to Korea and ended up settling in Korea. Because of their origins they may have only been allowed to become butchers or clowns etc, but thru many generations become quite Korean. of course during the Korea War many records were destroyed. and some people bought family trees or made up fake documents. if you take the name Lee for example, there are many different Lees. It is not simply a single surname. Different Lee's are of different clans and familes and are not related. Some people write it Rhee, Ri....and that sometimes are used to distinguish their family name from other Lees.
Re: The Ri Tadanari thread He was born in japan but considered a gaijin until he surrendered his korean passport. Tadanari wa kankokujin demo Ima kare wa Nihonjin. Not bad for a thirteen year old
