No one watching? We really should be making game day threads but that’s generally useless if no one is watching.
Well it does not start for 23 minutes (9:30 eastern). The game is available on Fox Soccer Match Pass.
For the record: Our first @Bundesliga_EN XI of 2020! 📋The boss hands Kevin #Vogt his #Werder debut 💪#F95SVW pic.twitter.com/98R9iY2RQk— SV Werder Bremen EN (@werderbremen_en) January 18, 2020
Watching the live ticker, this was the only mention of Sargent in the first half: 27' RASHICA MISSED THE PLAY Rashica can prove himself 35 meters in front of the Düsseldorf goal against two opponents and storms with speed towards the Fortuna box. At the last moment he overlooks the free-standing Sargent, but hits the ball too imprecisely. Pity! Uh oh. Another American whose teammates don't want to pass to him! 0-0 at half.
Is there no game day thread for Sargent or Chandler, but we have one for Reyna glued to the bench? Such a BigSoccer move .
Sargent off at 86' Two minutes earlier he had just one man in front of him from 25 meters out, but touches the ball too far out front.
Final whistle, Bremen get three big points to start the 2nd half of the season in their hopes of staying in the top flight. Fortuna, on the other hand... Sargent did not make a name for himself today, according to the live tracker.
Another dreadful performance from Bremen against a fellow relegation battler. Very lucky to get the 3 away points.
Bremen have zero playmaking connecting midfielders. Just a chore to watch. Florian should’ve been sacked already.
There's no good thread for this post (or too many good threads for this post) but I just watched a Bund Sat. highlight recap. The thing was lousy with YAs... Trivia freaks: What is the single most YAs playing in the Bund in a single day?
I wasn't watching today, more of a general comment. Sargent strikes me as the type of player though that does better with steady playing time. When he had that run of starts in the fall, he was putting up decent numbers. Concluded the stretch with a goal in one game and an assist in another. Unfortunately, 19 year olds don't often get steady playing time, so this is a good opportunity for him to learn how to make a bigger impact off the bench. What's additionally problematic about that (and I think I've had this argument in this thread before) is that Kohfeldt waits way too long to make attacking subs, so the forwards coming on will have like, 3 touches to make an impact. The chances of that succeeding aren't high. This post is longer than I expected, but to sum: Kohfeldt is a bad manager and his continued employment is going to stunt Sargent's progression, and might very well lead to Werder being in the 2.Bundesliga next season.
