damn! so Fiorentina, MLS all-stars, Barca twice, MU, start of the La Liga season. all in August! good.
Random fact that I've just seen on Marca, last time we played the MLS All Stars, Luxemburgo had Raul play with an ear piece to communicate all instructions to the captain!
I was just thinking about this game yesterday. Seems like a really long time ago now. Those were some dark ass days as I recall.
Indeed. Makes you cherish the good times we are going through now and not take them for granted but still you see so many people bitch and moan about this player or that player and the club in general. Miserable af.
What a shitstorm that started! The Brazilians vs. everyone else... Another reason we should savor the good times as @Shay Z mentioned.

-Candidates for the best midfielder of the UEFA Champions League 2016/17:Casemiro (Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Luka Modric (Real Madrid). ^ Not even one outsider -Candidates for the best defender of the UEFA Champions League 2016/17:Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus - now AC Milan), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid). One outsider. And as expected the top 3 are Cristiano/Buffon/Midget
Very nice! Who would have thought when we bought him and put up an ironic thread title that Casemiro would be a finalist for best midfielder in the UCL. He's really developed well! Good job, sir! Edit to add a quote from mymy33 on the first page of the Casemiro thread: And to think, at that point she was defending Casemiro.
He's got it in the bag, the most obvious choice in the last couple of years... I really don't care about these awards but to have 5 out of 6 nominees in defense/midfield is really something... not long ago we had the pleasure of watching the double pivot of Emerson/Diarra week in week out.
http://www.abc.es/real-madrid/abci-madrid-muda-estilo-201708220816_noticia.html Zidane is transforming us into a possession based team and beating the former masters in the process.
I think it will take time to really master that. However, what I think Zidane is working on isn't a Graudiola style. It's more towards Bayern's 2013 style when they won the triblete. We play possession, and fight for it, but we can also execute light speed transition from defense to attack. I think the target is a flexible system (the best of the two worlds) ... but don't know if we can pull it off with the kind of forwards we have. Bale and Ronaldo lose possession quite often and that doesn't suit such a system.
Ronaldo is fine I feel. The way he loses possession, he has cut it down significantly last season. Bale is a work in progress. His first touch is atrocious for a player of his level, which makes him quite useless with his back to the goal.
So I am new to this "Santiago Bernabéu Trophy" thing. Does this have any relevance at all? Does it count as a official Trophy, do stats count? Or is it just a unofficial for fun game?
Its an annual pre-season friendly game/cup which is used as a showcase of our new summer signings to the fans. That and it pays tribute to non other, Santiago Bernabeu. Doesn't count as an official trophy, but its our own trophy so we don't want to lose out
