I don't know if any of you fellas subscribe to the Athletic but the interesting article about MLS by Paul Tenorio mentioned that MLS is trying to centralize the broadcasts and make them more professional, uniform across the league and have the better elements of UEFA Champions league and EPL for instance. It's a sprawling article and that's just one part but perhaps this is a part of a bigger plan? I've always thought the MLS broadcasts looked and sounded exactly like something directed by producers who've never watched a European Footy match. I don't mind hearing American announcer's I just mean the tactical camera angles seem off and the close up replays aren't pre-cut vignettes that are inserted when a dude is injured or a guy is getting substituted. It's just "off" a little in a bad way.
a quite literal "big if true". Dude is trying to pay off old bad contracts left and right. Too bad he doesn't have $46 Billion laying around to pay off the city's pension debt in exchange for naming a street after him or something.
I'm not going back on my tweeter timeline to double check. Nor have I read the article, but I thought the main talking point is MLS wants broadcasts to be less critical of the product.
My biggest issue with announcers is the amazement when something special happens, the surprise, followed by a "that's world class, you won't see a better play anywhere" statement that reaks of self-consciousness.
I would bet the stay tuned is an addition not a subtraction announcement. I would think a new technical director will be the first order of business after this.
