Seattle wins against Minnesota and takes second, RSL doesn't have sexual relations with the family dog and wins at Vancouver, LAG loses to Houston, San Jose wins over Portland, Dallas wins against Colorado. Final standings, Seattle takes second, RSL takes third over Minnesota on Goals For, Minnesota takes fourth, LAG takes fifth, San Jose takes sixth, Dallas takes seventh and Portland becames the odd man out for the playoffs this year. Bwhahahahahaha! What a way to mess up your "home field advantage".
You sound like the guys over in the cRapids forum: ...unless the cRapids get a Royal Fizzbin in Sunday's game. Good thing they're not playing on a Tuesday...
Wow! I picked everything right, except the Portland-San Hose-Me game. Maybe I should spend my weekends at Bend-Over. And how cheesy is it to quote yourself?
You also had a game not happening (Dallas over cRapids) but got the result for each team in that made up game right, so...
Please no. If the make it to the final or actually win the thing I would think it would be hard to say no but then we'll have another season or two of Cassar/Petke/Freddy like frustration before they finally hire an actual coach. I would suffer through if that meant we win this season though.
If he's given an honest assessment then absolutely not. This team had every chance to finish 2nd and play much more convincing soccer. Instead, we once again had to wait for other teams to falter to get the playoff scenario we did. The only way Freddy should keep the job, IMO, is if we win MLS Cup. Nothing about how this team has played under him, thus far, inspires long term success. More than anything else, though, I want the new GM (who sure as hell better be new to the club) to have his/her say in creating everything anew. I mean this in more than just the first team. In an ideal world (we're not in it) this new GM would be able to appoint a new first team staff, a new Monarchs staff, a new Royals staff, a Royals GM, a Monarchs GM, and a vision that incorporates all of those areas, with a big emphasis on the academy being where we develop talent we sign and then sell. but in reality Elliot Fall is going to be the GM next year. The coaching staff will change in only a small way (new head coach, one or two different assistants) Royals will still be under Harvey. The Monarchs and Academy will still feel further away then ever, despite being within minutes of each other.
Oh, you mean Elliot FALL, not Elliot FAIL. Those 'l's and 'i's kind of look the same to my eyes. Damn bifocals!
talk about failing up Cassar is still around the organization, as well, wouldn't be surprised if he came back as an assistant or Monarchs head coach.
In Playoff news, I just heard on MLS's ExtraTime podcast, RSL is 1-9-2 with a -9 GD against western conference playoff teams. Oof.
how in the hell are we 3rd?! Expanding on that stat, we are 1-4-1 against those teams at home: 2-4 loss to FCD 1-2 loss to Portland 1-1 draw with Minnesota 3-0 win against Seattle 0-2 loss to LAFC 1-2 loss to LAG
By all accounts, Cassar is a fantastic GK coach. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing him as such on any team within the RSL umbrella. EDIT: Furthermore, I don't think we can make any statement about Elliot, other than unproven and lacking experience. Unfortunate that his name is so easily manipulated against him. I knew Elliot from over a decade ago. Just a soccer fan like me back then. However, he has worked for the organization that whole time, and I haven't had much contact with him for the duration. His love and devotion to the game is irrefutable.
Just what this organizations needs to impress the rest of MLS. We've already had one head coach who liked to spew anti-gay slurs. Why not one who has been accused of domestic violence.
Has anyone talked about how this is the 2nd year in a row all LA Galaxy had to do for a favorable playoff result was beat Houston in their last game and for the 2nd year in a row allowed Houston to come from behind and beat them? I have no pity for them.
Bill Riley talked about that during his call of RSL's game. He referred to Houston as LA's kryptonite.
