Chalobah, Dozzell, Downes and Nydam. Now Edun ? Fulham midfielder Tayo Edun is set to join Ipswich Town on loan with the player undergoing a medical at Portman Road. #FFC #ITFC https://t.co/p3NOoOLsH2— Pete O'Rourke (@SportsPeteO) August 2, 2018
Yeah, I don't really get it. They've loaned Chalobah to play him out of position at DM, and now they're loaning Edun who actually is a DM? Are they going to play him at left-back? Even setting aside their own youth players, it's a bit baffling. Hope it works out though.
He's a player I really like. I don't understand why his career isn't moving faster. Hopefully they'll play the euro 19 pivot with him and Dozell

I'm not sure I understand this one, but only thing that makes sense is that he will be competing for LB spot. That will be 6 '99s who have played for England in last 18 months though with those 5 and Ben Morris. EDIT - Forgot Edun was a '98
Some of the stuff Mourinho has so blatantly said about the young players in pre-season has been nothing short of a joke. Clearly gets zero enjoyment working with young players who want to absorb and learn. Urrrghh José Mourinho: "Finally this preseason is over. There was a moment I was looking to the area and there was Lewandowski on Axel, Robben on Mitchell, Goretzka on Garner and Süle on Chong. We were playing against their best team. Their full squad apart from Tolisso" pic.twitter.com/Vjj9PbM9tm— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) August 5, 2018
Chelsea never seem to disappoint: now they want Fekir, which means another loan for RLC, a lot of sitting on the bench for Barkley and endless other loans for Mount.
Also: why do Leicester sign not one but two central defenders today? What does it mean for Darnell Johnson, Hughes and Knight?

Chelsea signed Kovacic so rlc won’t get much game time anyway Cesc rlc and Kovacic play the attacking cm role and of course Jorginho will play every game
You got to get into that Sarri rotation. If you don't then playing time will be difficult. They have 8 MFs for 3 positions which will likely fall to 7 but squads these days are greedy. Versatility and bargains are forgotten in this game now. 2 for each position bare minimum.
Can't see Barkley getting much game time either. Barkley should of went to Tottenham instead of Chelsea.
Well, it completely depends on what happens with Morgan and Benoulane. I can see Morgan going on loan to the football league. Benoulane - Has to go somewhere. Their contracts are up after this season. Johnson will go out on loan - Otherwise he was pretty daft to sign the new contract. Hughes is slated to go out on loan No idea about Knight. Worst case scenario - They are back at the club at the start of next season with the two new ones and Evans. Can't see Maguire staying more than another season.
I'm so frustrated with the PL. They overspend on mediocre foreigners (eg Sanchez at W. Ham) and block the path of our youth players. Many of the u21s (Abraham, Solanke, Oxford, Roberts, Woodman, Dowell, DLC, KWP, Holgate, Lookman, etc) need loans now, preferably to the contient as the Championship is now overspending on mediocre players
I think it's about time the premier league became known as the foreign league rather than the domestic league.
For once, I actually kind of agree. I’ve kind of loss my connection with the league I grew up with and loved. I’m becoming disillusioned with it all tbh and find myself not watching half as many games as I used to.
The Tottenham Supporters Trust have issued a statement moaning about their transfer window. Amongst other things they had this to say: Good to see a message like that coming from a club's fanbase. In Poch's early days at Tottenham there was a lot of buzz around him bringing through youth but that died a quiet death in subsequent seasons. Similar to, but not as bad as, Southampton really - they were the darlings of development not too long ago but when's the last time they properly integrated an academy player into their squad?
Tosin (WBA) Nmecha (Preston) Roberts Duhaney Diallo Humphreys Demetri Mitchell Tomori (Derby) Loftus-Cheek (staying) Tammy Izzy Brown Ojo Armstrong (Blackburn) Onomah Marcus Edwards Dasilva (Bristol City) Dasilva (Arsenal, permanent) Willock Connolly (Wigan) Dowell Lookman Woodman Tuanzebe (Villa) Galloway Tayo Edun (Ipswich) Mahoney (Birmingham) Oxford Ugbo Mavididi Barker (Preston) Joe Williams Sam Hughes Darnell Johnson Easah Suliman Taylor Moore Holgate Calvert-Lewin Barkley Still so many players who need loans. Kind of embarrassing how full of young loanees the football league will be. Makes a mockery of everything. Some won't move, but most could do with moving.
Oxford will be back in the Bundesliga by the end of the month from what I heard today. Three Clubs mentioned were Frankfurt, Hannover and Freiburg ( I think ). Funnily enough I don’t think Monchengladbach was mentioned.
Joe Willock was also sent back to u23s because new signing of the same age from Ligue 2 impressed more in pre-season. Not that I particularly rate Joe Willock massively but things can change very quickly. It might be premature but do I see his future with Arsenal ? Probably not. It seems being a young English GK, CB, CM or CF it is extremely tough to be backed in England. Athletic full-backs and fast skillful tricky attackers seem to have the best opportunities.
It’s going to depend on how certain players are used in squads. Players like Tammy, DCL and Barkley/RLC could still have productive seasons if they get a few breaks and take their chances. Can’t say I’m fond of Tuanzabe’s move. Main issue is players going on loan at this point merely as squad cover and barely playing by December.
