Newcastle have released a lot of U23 players. Former England U17 starting keeper Paul Woolston and Mackenzie Heaney among them.

    Players released list

Only had a quick look but some interesting names from an England perspective, Bailey Cargill ( remember him ) and Tafari Moore for a start.

Cole Dasilva surprised me, not that England are likely to get him back.

Man City seem to have had a bit of a cull too. Diallo, Patching, Duhaney, and Marcus Wood all gone.

I honestly find this quite positive. Most of them players will be so much better for it if they're forced to join L1 or L2 clubs than if they're in the U23 league for another couple of years. Someone like Diallo could get picked up by a Championship side and become a regular next season if things fall into place.

I agree. Clubs are always going to have their preferred players and some players just supporting really and the earlier some of those guys supporting are backed and playing mens football else where the more chance of a later developer or supposed lesser talented player with the right work ethic finding his way to the top sooner.

If I was Diallo I would even consider L1 like nearby Fleetwood/Accrington Stanley/Blackpool etc

It's all about games. If you shine someone will be trying to sign you from higher up the pyramid with that bit more experience.

Yep, they'd be perfect, just somewhere he will be guaranteed games. Essentially something similar to what Ryan Ledson has done. It's an ideal pathway for those who aren't the real elite talents.

I can't believe Liverpool would take Isaac Christie-Davies on. And after a trial spell. :ROFLMAO:

    Forgot
    Isaac Christie-Davies (1997) for Liverpool
    Luke Garbutt (1993) for Everton

When you look at the above. Crazy the low percentage of Liverpudlians for Liverpool particularly. Only Randall, "Virtue" , George, Trent, Coyle, Lewis for Liverpool officially out the academy.

    For Everton.
Youthful Signings of Garbutt, Galloway, Holgate, Calvert-Lewin, Lookman, Foulds, Adeniran, Bowler, Gibson is quite a number.

Curtis Jones is scouse too, and I think there are a few more, though that might be because the LFCTV commentator describes everyone in the team as "the young scouser", whether true or not.

Quite a few of those other Liverpool players are from the region and have been at the club since they were young - Woodburn and Kent being the obvious ones.

Not too sure where to post this, but I feel Grealish could be great in the Modric position. He has the tools to play the same role IMO.

Seem like another loan away next season it seems for RLC but they want him to sign a contract extension. Why on earth would he sign when he still has three more years to run unless Chelsea are threatening, sign or rot in the reserves or something. Worrying thing is, I can see this being Mount or Chalobah in a few years time.

Isn't Mount going back to Chelsea for preseason? Or is he on loan again somewhere?

Going back for preseason I think but I bet he will be back out on loan before you know it but my main point is I just can’t see Mount or Chalobah been given a fair chance at Chelsea in the near future. Loan, loan, loan to build up there value and then sell for a good fee. If an young England International can’t make it now, what hope is there? :(

I put this on twitter so I'll also put it on here for anyone interested.

The current England squad for the 2018 World Cup has 10 players that have represented England in a FIFA Youth World Cup and 18 of this squad have represented in England at a UEFA finals.

The only players not to represent England at a youth finals from this squad are - Nick Pope, Harry Maguire, Dele Alli, Marcus Rashford and Jamie Vardy.
