Apart from the poli forum Palin thread, where libs can hate on Palin 24/7, I thought I'd post my take on Palin here.

I wanted her to be a diamond that McCain discovered. With all the hate spewing out of libs, I was hopeful that she was worthy of their hate - in the Reagan sense. If she is up to it, she can send Hillary to the showers as the top female politico in the country.

I don't think that's the case. She doesn't appear to have given any deep thought to many of the big issues of national importance. Her interview with Hannity was totally forgettable, and given all those softball questions, she should have hit a few homers. All she seems capable of is very generic answers on just about every topic.

From what I've seen so far, Palin won't send anyone to the showers, and if McCain is elected, the odds are not good that she ever becomes something special.

Agreed. Nothing to add really. Not excited at all by Mccain/Palin. I know the liberals hate(d) Reagan but he pulled quite few Democrats and most independants into his side.

Reagan was developing opinions on the great issues of his day back when he was president of the Screen Actors Guild. I'm sure that Palin is a fine person, but it's evident that she hasn't been doing that to any significant extent.

My guess is that Obama is a better problem-solver than McCain and that's what we need, above all, right now. I'll just have to grin and bear it when he appoints more ACLU flakes to the supreme court.

Jeez, I wish the GOP could produce more guys like Gingrich. Compared to him, the entire GOP is like munchkinland.

File that under "Be careful what you wish for"! Remember, at least for 2008, a President Barry would also have both Houses on his side. If most of us trusted him to make the correct choices we'd probably be in his camp in the first place. But I'm not sure which I'd fear most, however; Barry's post-Boomer lib naivite, or Biden's encampment in the Dem's corrupt power-holding machine. Either way, the Great White Male Backlash of 2010 can't come soon enough...

In retrospect, he kind of failed at keepng the Jeebus Freak wing under control, since they were the ones that pushed W's crew in the first place. The war on Islam could have been going a lot more smoothly, IMO, had McCain been in charge the last eight years, for example...

Despite what the libs have posted about Gov. Palin, she was the right choice for the McCain ticket...

Regardless of what happens in election Palin has brought credit to herself, her state, and the GOP. Regardless of what happens in election McCain has shown himself open to the next generation of Republicans by choosing an accomplished woman and brought her into GOP fold.

Palin has faced the worst the leftist liberals could throw at her - and they threw everything including hate, sexism, and smear - and she is still standing.

    She is a remarkable woman.

I'd hit that ten ways from Sunday. She looks like a retired porn star to me.

And she has the intellectual curiosity and creepy christianist tendencies of Bush. No thanks. Sarah Palin is the reason why Obama will be getting my vote this year.

Meh. I think either Obama or McCain will make a fine president. I just want serious people running the show again at all levels. We have has 16 years of children at the helm and that has to end. And I will be voting for gridlock with my representitives. But I'm in Jersey so it really doesn't matter much how I vote.

Obama and especially Biden do not reflect the views you've shown in these forums.

Tina Fey is not hot, by the way.

Matt's newfound support of Obama (Biden) does not track with what he's posted previously; nobody with a brain can support legitimately Obama's economic plans.

I agree. No one with a brain should support Obama's economic plans. Or Mccain's either.

So can Bob Barr count on your vote ITN?

This is true but I am willing to sacrifice ideology for competence for a bit. As for Biden, well lets hope Secret Service does their job. But the VP is not as big for Obama IMO based on age and health as it is for McCain.

That, and I am done with baby boomers. They suck at running this country

YMMV, but I think she's dirty hot.

My classes at the U of Chicago resume tonight. If I happen to encounter any of Obama's economics advisers, I'll make sure to tell them that a couple of guys on a soccer message board don't think they have brains. ;)

Oh, and I think this crisis was pretty much tailor made for Mitt Romney to handle. If the GOP had nominated him, Obama would be in serious pain right now. However, Romney ran an inept campaign, and there's little doubt that evangelicals could not truly accept his religion.

And Tina Fey is a homely girl with the greatest make-up and wardrobe people on the planet.

Both McCain and Obama project an operational defecit and I would receive the same tax cut (which is a terrible idea right now when we are dealing with $700B credit crunch bailouts and 2 wars) with either.

Prediction: no matter who is in charge, taxes will not be cut. I think it's pretty clear that the landscape just changed considerably.

Also tell them that most economist think they have no brains and tell them that Volker himself did the opposite of what Obama proposes.

I don't see how you equate the first part if taxes remain at the same rates.

    As for the second, great!

Look at what happened in the late 1990's when "taxes on the rich" were raised. Why not defund the military instead? Why not cut out all these stupid feel good social programs? Why not put a stop to bailouts? Obama and Mccain want temporary solutions like Clinton and Bush did. Where is Obama and Mccain on the federal reserve??

Why? What? Because conservatives don't exist in national politics anymore. After Newt got rode out on a rail for dipping his pee pee where he shouldn't all the conservatives either became christianists, quazi liberals or eunics.

What you just wrote is why I don't see that big of a difference between the two. So I base my vote on competence and the Palin choice shows McCain to be an incompetent executive.

Before that decision I was truly 50%/50% on these two guys. Both had equal plusses and minuses in my book. Sarah tipped the scales.
