Bale is their second best player. He has made them better. That's all we want. We aren't asking for the CL trophy. Just that we improve.
How can we know Ogbonna is shit when he's barely played. The fee paid for Iturbe was excessive but I think he's a good player with upside and will most likely do well at Roma based on his speed and the lineup/system he will be playing in there. Pereyra is a loan.
I've been pretty impressed with Pereyra so far, surprisingly so. He seems to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. If he performs in the league and Europe as he has so far during pre-season, then I think he's very solid pick-up. Not a glamorous signing, but effective. EDIT: And yeah, I don't understand why people are so quick to dismiss Ogbonna, based on the amount of playing time that he's had with the club so far. Also regarding Pereyra, he's not rated by several football journalists and precious "twitter experts" who are absolute dipshits, imo. So that makes me optimistic, in a way.
All you need to do is see how he played at Torino the year before and then at Juve. He's an average defender, more suited for a midtable team, like Torino. With a mandated purchase in year 2.
Angel Di Maria has retired from Champions League football God that Chevy logo looks hideous on there.
Except that Juve are really interested in Chicharito. Fun fact, ManYoo never lost by more than 3 under Moyes. It's only taken Van Gaal 3 games to beat that. Wonder who the fans will blame?
On a serious note. How much did United spend in the window on strengthening their starting XI with world class players?
Do Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw qualify as world class? (The former I don't know anything about, the latter... well, obviously I'm being sarcastic)
Forget about United. Napoli are out of the CL after being humiliated by Bilbao. United are the EPLs 4-5th best team whereas Napoli are Serie As third! Really pathetic. Given how the summer has gone for Juve, Roma, Napoli and the rest of the league, what looked like promising progress for the clubs a year ago is starting to look pretty stale now. It seems the best any of the clubs can hope for is to retain their best players, never mind bringing in impactful additions.
As great as that may be, Napoli losing 3-1 to Bilbao doesn't do the league's perception of being incredibly weak any favors. Tough to draw WC players or gain worldwide appeal when this stuff happens.
Napoli can do good stuff in the Europa League. They were going to get rolled over in the Champions League anyway.
Why? They were more than competitive last year and in years prior. They like much of Serie A failed to reinforce in key areas this summer. Still it would have been better had the made the CL.
