You can also argue we never pinned Juve back at our ground the way Atletico did to Juve in the first leg. Its swings and roundabouts really, Atletico can only play a certain type of football and have always struggled to dominate the midfield away from home.
Juve and Atleti basically cancelled each other out for the first 55 minutes of the first leg. Napoli were more dominant in their 2-1 loss recently to Juve than Atleti were in Madrid. You guys just lacked that bit of luck/mentality in crucial spots. Juve are a strange team this year. When they are on, they can be unstoppable but with so many injuries and constant rotation (as Allegri should do) that high doesn't happen often. For as unbelievably dominant Juve were yesterday, you still feel like they can reach another level once everyone is back from injury. Douglas Costa, Cuadrado, Khedira, and Sandro in a wing oriented attack like we saw could be crazy to watch.
It's not Juve. It's about CR7. Juve were a loser team in CL , with Ronaldo they are more dangerous but still i can't say they are gonna win it.They have too much ups and downs. But if they win that's because of Ronaldo.
I think I'd put them Barca and Man City as the 3 favourites. They have something more than the others. It's really a weak quarter final considering Ajax, Porto, Tottenham and this Man U team will be in it. Pretty soft
Serie B: Salernitana, Benevento and Juve Stabia to get the top 3 spots and get promoted let's gooooooooo
Benevento I can see making a return, they have a strong team for Serie B. Juve Stabia will struggle to survive and I'm prettu sure Salernitana can't be promoted because they are owned by the owners of Lazio and an owner can't have multiple teams competing in the same competition.
They can be promoted. But then Lotito will be forced to sell one of them. This happened years ago when Palermo got promoted to Serie A. They were owned by the Sensi family who also owned Roma
Well I think they're good for Serie B standards. They brought in Ventura, who as much as he was a failure for Italy, is in his element in the lower leagues. He usually does good in these environments
The team is poor though and littered with Lazio prospects (6 in total) which is what ADL is doing now with Bari, hopefully Bari gets promoted to Serie B, Serie C is too low for a city that size...
Napoli Femminile will have an important match against Lazio this weekend. Lazio is currently two points ahead at the top of Serie B, and Napoli is currently in the second position, headed for the playoff with (at the moment) Sampdoria. Pomigliano Femminile is three points ahead of Sampdoria in the Serie A relegation pool with three games to play.
The Partenopee scored two first half goals on Sunday to win at Lazio 1-2, putting them in first place in Serie B, one point ahead of Lazio and Cittadella with three stages remaining.
Both Napoli Women and Lazio's games ended in draws today. That puts Napoli at 71 points through 29 games and Lazio at 70. Napoli cannot finish lower than the playoff position for promotion in the final week, and a win against Tavagnacco (currently in the relegation zone, Napoli beat them 6-0 earlier in the year, past results are not an indicator of future success) will seal promotion. Both games should stream on ELEVEN next Sunday at 9ET. Napoli managed to go 2-1 up on Cittadella with goals in the 85th and 90th minute, but Peruzzo scored on a free kick in the 92nd that was just too far into the right side to stop. In Femiminile Serie A's salvation pool, Pomigliano and Sampdoria both won yesterday, and they will play each other in the final week (live on ata football 630am ET Saturday). The winner will stay up and the loser will go to a playoff against the second team from Serie B.
Napoli women won their final match of the season and secured automatic promotion to Serie A, which also means they earned full professionalism for the team. Previously the players were considered amateur and subject to a wage cap around 30k EUR (their amateur contracts also exempted them from contributing to federal pensions and healthcare, and they had no employer mandate for maternity, severance, and other benefits). Professional teams in Italy are also able to participate in the non-EU transfer market, since they are able to extend work permits to potential players. Pomigliano lost their final match to Sampdoria, and will have a two leg playoff with Serie B runner-up Lazio to determine their destiny on June 3rd and 8th.
Parma bought out Empoli last year, and Juve, Inter, Fiorentina (2015), Milan, Roma, Sampdoria were all "founded" by buying out existing clubs by the men's clubs. Como isn't that Como, etc. Sassuolo was using that brand under license until a couple years ago when they got bought. Still time to buy one or both teams out, if ADL was interested.
Pomigliano won their first playoff leg at Lazio 0-2 on Sunday. The second leg determining whether Pomigliano or Lazio will play in Serie A next season will be played in Palma on Thursday.
Rather late, but Pomigliano surrendered an own goal near the end of the first half to Lazio, but still had the better of two legs, securing salvation. There will be two teams from the Naples metropole in women's Serie A next season.
