The team kinda needs it's own place (in so many ways) Goff has a story today about Richie coming in, in which he (Richie) makes a short joke https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...ie-williams-loudoun-uniteds-first-head-coach/ Also ... shout-out to the dudes who recognized him being DCU at the SLC airport
I'm in the IT sales world and Richie's 1st job out of MLS was as sales rep at Hitachi Data. He went by Rich, but I called him Richie and asked him about his time at DCU. He was pretty surprised that I recognized him. He went to Hitachi with Mike Amman who I believe still works there (looks like he moved to Vion who is a HDS reseller).
I just saw on twitter that the training facility will be completed next January. So Loudoun/DCU will have to train at RFK for another year. Also- LUFC will play their first 6 matches in Audi Field. I wonder if any of those matches will be included in the 3 'free' home games on the STH plan? DCU has 17 home games, but the STH plan is for 20 games. Or are those extra 3 games for Cup matches?
Not for the first year or so. You can make more than the MLS maximum (especially in those days) as a rep for Hitachi.
No they are part of the Flo TV package......................................never mind I was thinking you go some value out of Flo TV.
The new USL team @LoudounUnitedFC will hold open tryouts. There is a $125 registration fee. 😳— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 30, 2019
I've concluded that it would be insane for me to pay $125 for someone to confirm that I am too old, too slow, etc..
See, I am old, out of shape and really just a terrible player to top it off. And the opportunity to do this is more worth the money than a year's subscription to FloSports. You're welcome.
https://www.elsalvador.com/deportes...lvador-parte-al-futbol-de-los-estados-unidos/ Looks like the club signed a Salvadorian Midfielder https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/omar-campos/profil/spieler/633040 No clue if the guy is good but these are the kind of signings I like to see them make.
Cool - he's one of their first two signed players and the other is a local boy. https://www.blackandredunited.com/2...-united-calle-brown-omar-milton-campos-dragon
Although the team has formally announced just two signings, about 10 players have agreed to deals and others are close. Training this week featured 20+ players, including trialists and some academy kids.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) February 13, 2019 I also saw something that said 2 of the pay-to-play try-out participants had moved on to be "trialists"
Today RVA is playing Beth Steel - in Leesburg (at the funky Evergreen place) - maybe this was some sort of tournament. I follow LU on twitter and never knew they had a game - I saw a Kickers retweet from their supporter's group about today's game. And recently, this: We are underway in Leesburg against @BSteelFC #RVAisRED pic.twitter.com/VcS4g92899— Richmond Kickers 🦘 (@RichmondKickers) February 22, 2019

Those LU shirts are nicer shirts than our away t-shirts. Uninspiring, to be sure, but a plain red shirt beats a plain white shirt any day of the week. After all, you can't buy plain red t-shirts at 3/$9.99-- not even at Target . . .
It would be cool if DCU and LU had an arrangement whereby LU's home shirts were DCU's away shirts, and vice versa.
I'm not sure they have a full/legal roster yet - but someone posted they had 9 players signed, so they're getting close. The website hasn't been very helpful to me, but whoever runs the twitter is responsive to questions (at least the construction questions I asked).
I was pleased to see new Loudoun FC coach Richie Williams at last night's match. Unfortunately for him, he's not likely to be given many of the second-teamers until DCU fills out its roster.
Loudoun is now legal; they have signed their 12th player https://www.blackandredunited.com/2019/3/6/18254026/loudoun-united-connor-presley-san-antonio-fc Also in the story; not sure if it's a LoCo thing or a Nashville (a soccer club) thing, but for those of you with ESPN+ their Sat night opening game looks like it'll be streamed.
