Nice article from the Guardian about our ex-player Paulinho, who is now a regular starter for Barcelona and Brazil. I remember when we sold him to China in 2015 everyone was doing cartwheels because we got 10 million quid for him. A Brazilian bloke in my office who is from Sao Paolo and watched him play when he was with Corinthians said at the time we were mad to sell him. I have to agree. Boy, could we use a player like him now. Wonder why Poch didn't fancy him? https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/dec/21/paulinho-barcelona-clasico-tottenham-china
I remember when he arrived there were high hopes. But I don't necessarily think it was that Poch didn't fancy him, but he, along with a lot of Brazilian National Team players lost a lot of confidence in the circa 2014. Paulinho just happened to be on the leading edge of his career so didn't have a lot in the bank of "he will work out." Seems that when he went to China, he got his issues worked out and is now playing very well. Good on him.
