The weird thing about Aeroflot is that while they meet the standard of a European Airline simply being better than American ones (I'd love to why that is), they are not like Air France, British Airways or KLM in that they are incredibly cheap. I was looking at tickets to Sochi and I found at one point a round trip JFK to Sheremetyevo for $600!
Anyone can shed some light on what's going on with Eugene nowadays? I couldn't really find anything after his loan with Rostov ended. He hasn't been mentioned on the Zenit website, and I'm not even sure how long his contract runs (Transfermarkt says through 2014, but championat.com says 2013 http://www.championat.com/football/_russiapl/news-720722.html).
He isn't listed on Soccerway as a player for any team. Anyone with updates? He's still young. Perhaps a move stateside would do him some good!
Trying to work out a permanent move to join Tomsk, according to Greg Seltzer. http://www.noshortcorners.com/2013/07/you-can-go-tomsk-again.html
1 year loan deal finalized. Tom' will also loan Slovakian defender Kornel Salata, from Eugene's former club Rostov. This should be a good situation for Eugene since he is quite familiar with Tomsk, although the coach is different from when he was there last. http://fctomtomsk.ru/news/starikov-i-salata-zayavleny-za-tom
PS. Starikov will wear #17. Tom' will host Ural Yekatirnburg tomorrow but I think it's unlikely that Eugene plays.
Looks like Eugene was on the bench for the 1-2 home loss to Ural. He did not play. http://fctomtomsk.ru/match/tom-ural-1/online Tom' has 0 points from 4 games and are dead last in the RPL.
Interview with Eugene: http://fctomtomsk.ru/news/gost-programmy-nbf-evgeniy-starikov I'm too lazy to watch and translate it now, maybe someone else who knows Russian? Also, can we change the thread title? Eugene Starikov on loan to Tom' Tomsk bungadiri
Yup, he didn't get into the game and Tom' lost 1-0 at Krylya Sovetov, who had a player sent off. They are still winless in the RPL.
Starikov wasn't in the squad for Tom's 2-1 loss at Spartak Moskva. Yura Movsisyan scored one for Spartak.
I rode in an Aeroflot from Bucharesti Romania to Maramures in the NW in 1976. For overflow seating you stood in the isle with a shoulder harness attached to the ceiling of the plane. It must have come along way.
I still don't know what's up with Starikov. He hasn't made the squad since the CSKA game in August. I think he is still injured. Tom meanwhile have won a couple of games and are now out of the direct relegation spots. Eugene did appear at some sort of youth event about safe driving in Tomsk. Here's some photos: http://fctomtomsk.ru/mediawall/687
OK, there's a little bit of news about Eugene. I still don't know what his injury is or how long he's out, but this practice report says he did not participate in training because he is doing rehabilitation work is St Petersburg. So I guess he's not coming back any time soon. http://fctomtomsk.ru/news/foto-trenirovka-tomi-v-kaltae-0
Here's a video feature on Eugene attending this event (in Russian). http://www.championat.com/football/...stavila-vosmoj-vypusk-peredachi-tom-live.html He talks about the difference in driving in the US and Russia (more aggressive in Russia). He also seems to have a slight accent in Russian, but I could be wrong because my Russian in close to atrocious by now. He also talks about his injury (around 2:10 mark). My limited understanding suggests he has an ACL strain or something similar.
Starikov is listed among the Tom' squad going to winter training camp in Belek, Turkey starting Jan 10 (one of six forwards on a 25-man roster). They will play friendlies against Shandong Luneng (Jan 15), Hajduk Split (Jan 17), and Legia Warsaw (Jan 19).
Tom' is going on a second camp in Turkey starting today. Starikov is listed as part of the group going. They will have 3 friendlies there: Jan 29 vs Vojvodina, Feb 1 vs Kosice, and Feb 3 vs Jablonec. Hopefully Eugene can see some pitch time.
