Page 36 is pure comedy. Varane is a beast idc if he shoots the ball out of the stadium, primary task is defending and in form he is the best at it.
Just imagine if he had progressed..... Then again I guess maybe him not progressing is a sign that the man has drank from the fountain of youth and he will remain as is forever, unchanged even by a millimeter.
Raphael Varane - Most clearances, most blocked shots, 2nd most tackles and 3rd most interceptions across the two legs of the semifinal for the team, while conceding only a single foul. Basically, he had a positive defensive action once every 6 minutes across the entire time span of the two semifinal games. Remarkable performance.
He has been solid for quite a while overall. Really made the CB position his own after Pepe left. Hope he continues to improve and he'll be our captain one day.
Thank you Zizou for suggesting him to the club. Can't believe we got him for peanuts. Amazing achievement. Many more to come. He made such a good call to not go join Mou in United when he tried to turn his head.
Getting better every year! Better lock this guy down with a major contract and release clause! Now easily in the top 5 CBs in the world in my opinion (Ramos, Chiellini, Godin, Varane, Bonucci/Boateng)
He's really gotten better over the last year. He was making a few mistakes last year and the year before, plus the injuries. Definitely stepped up in Pepe's absence.
All he needed was consistent playing time with no injuries. Altogether he missed only 3 or 4 games this season which is much better than before where he would get injured quite often. Really made the position his own and it's only uphill from here. I remember last year Marcelo asked him "How many more UCLs are you going to win" and Varane replied "I will settle with 10" and tbh I would not be surprised if he ends up winning 10 at this rate. 4 UCLs at age 25 is no joke.
Simply phenomenal. May he win many more. This is exactly why we should keep faith in Vallejo. He's a big talent that has it all to become a world-class CB (just needs to work on his aerial presence), but he's been struggling with injuries, just like Varane has for a couple of years. Look where the Frenchman is now.
Varane unlike Mbappe, was not scared of the competition and made the scary move to Madrid. Four champions league titles later, I'm sure he is pretty content with his decision.
7 years ago an 18-year old Raphael Varane hang up on ZINEDINE ZIDANE, thinking it was a prank! Good thing he called back! pic.twitter.com/RNw4y0BuEE— El Madridismo (@ElMadridismo93) May 27, 2018
I was rooting for Croatia, but I'm happy for Varane. 25 years old and already a World Cup winner and a four-time Champions League champion.
