First of all, I was posting in general and it wasn’t really directed to you personally. Secondly, what is your problem with me or my post? Thirdly, if you got such a problem with me or what I post or have posted, take it off the board because all this stuff you are posting has nothing to do with the thread!
No but what’s with the demeaning , argumentative posting of pictures as if you are 12 and again, what is your problem? If you want an argument or want to start one , take it off the board or for that matter, at least start engaging in meaningful adult dialogue and stick to the thread. Bottom line remains Beita is now in LA a soon to be rival of San Jose. That is a reality you and every other Quakes fan better start facing.
Can't take a joke? You have a habit of declaring when someone is over-the-hill or on the way out. If you don't get the Grim Reaper or Father Time analogy I suggest actually trying to google something for once.
It’s not a question of not being able to take a joke but you engage in meaningless arguments. So what if I posted he is (probably) done? Its most likely the truth? How many left or right backs start improving at the age of 31? How many left or right backs for that matter, grow or improve in that position at that age? The age of 31 is an age when most players start settling down in their positions and with their clubs , switch to sweeper or centerback because they can’t run anymore or retire. Unless they are all stars or national team players then maybe they remain on their same clubs for years. This isn’t true of Beita though as he is with his 3rd club in five years. He lost his national team aspirations 4 years ago and I doubt he will continue to improve at this age. I also doubt TFC regarded him highly if they exposed him to the expansion draft.
I wasn't arguing with you when I posted a picture of the Grim Reaper, I was just illustrating in an amusing way your habit of declaring someone with either one foot on the scrap heap, or one foot out the door. If I had argued with you it would have been by disagreeing with you, and saying something like "no, you're wrong, Beita still has several good years left". Which I did not. So, in truth you, you are the one engaging in a meaningless argument.
No one here said they support or will root for LAFC. If anything, I've read people saying they'll root for a team if it helps us in the standings. I don't see LAFC as a huge rival just because of their location. Doesn't mean I'm rooting for them either
How about we just let this thread die...please! If he signs, someone can post that into former Quakes where are they now and we leave it at that.
Obviously can't speak for the FO here, but Beita was well liked and highly rated by media and supporters. Letting him walk was just the reality of the money he'd command, plus the fact that he was kinda supplanted in the starting XI by Hasler, due to injury. Deciding who to expose in expansion drafts is as much as chess game of gaming out who the expansion team(s) might choose and planning around it, as it is a referendum on how much you value players. I'm sad to see him go, but it's just the reality of balancing salaries, and trying to keep a championship roster together.
The problem is the league just doesn’t regard Gk’s Or defenders all that highly. Big money or even middle of the road salaries won’t be paid out to these positions with the exception of maybe Tim Howard. Whichever way you spell it aside from the DP’s, $3 million dollars divided among 25 players only goes so far....
Wow this tweet broke quakes fans hearts on twitter. Beita’s response to whether or not he would have come back to SJ if asked, I think he would’ve 🤔— Steven Beitashour (@Sbeita33) April 30, 2018
Oh, I think we could find a place for him. I imagine his agent reached out and management wasn't interested. Should have asked the fans!
Happy for Beita that he got away from this shell game, to clubs where he was appreciated, paid, and the ambition to win was right there on the table for all to see.
We already have a young, decent right back. We need to find a young, decent left back. Bringing Beita in would likely force Lima to the left, where he is not nearly as effective. Being sentimental does not make a team better.
If you have to bring back a former player, at this point whether he is old or not, I’d take a 37 year old Victor Bernardez. He could definitely help settle the defense even as a part timer. He would be better than Salinas on defense.
