Whoops. Originally he was gonna be the subject of his own thread but then I thought I'd post here first -- and cut/pasted, forgetting to add his name. Edited to fix.

Transfermarkt says a '97 named Santiago Rodriguez playing for Estudiantes de San Luis in Argentina is American, but I think that may be an error. He's apparently from Arizona, but there is also a place called Arizona in San Luis in Argentina.

Not an American. His rather complete Spanish language wikipedia page says that he's from Arizona, San Luis.

No citizenship confirmation. All I get is that he's originally from Tyler. No actual confirmation on his being born there though it seems likely.

Logging here because often people who moved here from the part of the world acquired citizenship due to refugee status -- though articles I found and a YouTube that appears to be his don't indicate citizenship:

The 2012 Waterloo West graduate [HARIS HADZALIC] has signed a one-year contract with MFK Fryek-Mistek soccer club in the Czech Republic, a team he’s been training with since the start of the month.

    ...

Born in Cazin, Bosnia, in 1993, two years prior to the end of the Bosnian War, soccer provided Hadzalic an escape from the postwar struggles many in his country faced.

I was over in the "English players Dual Nationality thread", and one poster says it's possible that Tottenham U-18 and England U-17 attacking midfielder Samuel Shashoua has an American connection through his father.

    http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/first-year-academy/samuel-shashoua/

I can't find any proof yet, but it is possible he's related to this man who settled in New York in 1958 and whose business career was originally in England: http://www.nytimes.com/1964/12/11/stanley-shashoua-68-head-of-importexport-firms.html

This other man from New York could be a descendant of the family (regardless of whether or not Samuel is): https://www.linkedin.com/in/stanley-shashoua-0b849a34

Samuel does follow New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham on Twitter, the only American athlete or figure he follows: https://twitter.com/Sam_shash/following

This is all extremely speculative on my part, I realize.

Given he was born in Mexico, I can't say with 100% certainty that he's a citizen but it's clear his ties to the U.S. are very strong. He's a GK with Real Zamora; this article calls him "Israel" and his full name is Efraín Israel Baeza Cruz:

The 24-year-old soccer player was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, but moved to Missouri as a child when his father, Efraín, took over pastoral duties at First Hispanic Baptist Church of Sedalia. Baeza returned to Mexico in January to train with the Real Zamora soccer club after a call from its athletic director.

    ...

Baeza was goalkeeper for Warrensburg High School his freshman, junior and senior years and graduated in 2009. He played one season at Maple Woods-MCC before playing on the Sporting Kansas City U-18 youth academy and eventually training with MLS club, Sporting KC.

    ...

“I was coming back every two months or so, and it was kind of expensive,” Baeza said. “But, then again, my goal coming here is to come back to Kansas City and play. That’s really my ultimate goal. Get minutes here, maybe get noticed here. And I have a good relationship with the people in Kansas City.”
