That's rude to Marvin the Martian. I say he looks like a turd with a beanie on top. Go Quakes!! FUAEG!! - Mark
(from the Random Jibberish thread) --------------- Is that Q's little cousin q? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
When Quakes came back in 08 , first game against Chicago at Oakland Coliseum daughter and I had our photo with Q. To this day she stills talks about it. Glad to hear he's sticking around
On my office desk, there is a picture of my wife and me, and there is another with Q and us at the stadium formerly known Avaya,
Happy birthday to @QMascot, who, at 114 years old, has never looked better. Here's a story I wrote on the #Quakes74 iconic blue mascot back in 2016. Enjoy! https://t.co/oieUQhzfmQ— Robert Jonas (@robertjonas) April 18, 2020 GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Throwback Thursday: Rikter the Cyberdog, the mascot who followed the Earthquakes from Worst (2000 last place) to First (2001 MLS cup), he was once described as the “Perfect Fusion of Fun & Technology”. Rikter disappeared before the 2002 season, when Johnny Moore became General Manager. The Earthquakes had no mascot until Q debuted in 2004 when Alexei Lalas took the helm.
Welcome back, Yippee! Will Rikter the CyberDog return next season and team up with Q and Krazy George (and perhaps with some others as well such as José Clash and Q's father Andreas) to cheer on the team and entertain the crowd, whether in the stadium proper or among the vehicles in the grassy area? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Has anyone ever seen Q's father or does he avoid the stadium? If the return of Rikter doesn't sell out the stadium I don't know what will.
Q's father Andreas has only made one public appearance as far as I know (and yes, I did see them there side by side). GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
IIRC, wasn't the Rikter custume resurrected from some prior incarnation (I want to say women's basketball, for some reason)? Any others besides Jose Clash, Rikter, and Q?
Thanks Goodsport! Rikter went missing in 2002. I asked about him in 2004, the community relations manager said “ The costume has been put into the archives and will remain there.” I tried following up in late 2005, but the email bounced as the whole front office was let go. I contacted the (new) Earthquakes before the 2008 season, they said they had Q, but Rikter was not to be found. There was an exhibition at city hall in 2012 of Bay Area Soccer Artifacts. Shock of the CyberRays was on display, but Rikter was absent. If I had to venture a guess, Rikter might be in S.J.Sharkie’s mascot graveyard. He once mentioned having the San Jose Grizzlies mascot. (He doesn’t have Jose Clash tho, trust me!)
Just saw a news story on KTVU showing Q helping handing out groceries to those in need. Not sure if it was from last year or from recently, but regardless........ Good job Q
There's recently been an addition to Q's fellow MLS mascot brethren. "How Tempo the Coyote, Nashville SC's official mascot, came to be | J. Sam Jones" (MLSsoccer.com - Wednesday, 1/13/21) (Courtesy of Nashville SC) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
