I love his suit game though. On point. On that "eleven as one" picture, seems like he's got a pretty good shoe game as well--looks like a pair of whole-cut oxs. The man's stylish, damn stylish.

Is this the front office staff? There's only about 16 people in the photo and at least 2 are women, so that is not the Quakes team, right? Who does Jesse have his arm around? Plus it looks like his twin brother is on his right. inquirying minds want to know. Sort of.
Just wrapped interviews at #MLSCombine. Can’t overstate huge shift in coaching hires happening in #MLS. New wave of int’l managers have cachet + resumes (Chivas, Boca, Ajax, Inter, etc). Requests coming in from across 🌍 of ESPN for these interviews. Not the case a few years ago. pic.twitter.com/Rjx6NH4Epk— Sebastian Salazar (@SebiSalazarFUT) January 6, 2019 Thread: .@andrew_wiebe and @empiregass are doing interviews with coaches for @ExtraTimeRadio right now. I'll tweet out some of my favorite lines (paraphrased), and you can get the full episodes over the next few weeks. Almeyda is right when he said a lot of younger players today as opposed to older ones in years past want to come here. The media abroad run coaches and players out the door and in some cases, can even ruin someone. That doesn't happen here and I can see how MLS is becoming a league where many Latin players want to come. Argentina for example has great players but teams have a hard time paying players. That will never happen in MLS.
Well if it were from 1996-2001, I'd admit that MLS may not be able to pay players. Since 2008 onward, I don't think that is still the case. As opposed to Argentina and many other countries throughout Latin America, MLS teams ares in much better financial shape.
And being a single entity league, where MLS holds the contracts, I believe the league technically pays the players. Players don't need to really worry about whether their particular team is in great financial shape, but, the league as a whole. And there is a lot of money behind the league now.
Almeyda stayed there are many players in Mexico and Argentina wanting to come to MLS. Not all players get to go to Europe and the ones that do are usually the cream of the crop. There are so many good players though who fall through the cracks and maybe aren’t recognized or are passed over by scouts. Those players would do well in MLS. I think it was former Dallas GK Dario Sala who stated MLS pays in time and he never had to wait for a paycheck like he did when he lived in Argentina. Schelotto came from Boca Juniors to the Gals for a reason and that’s because he has more of a future here than if he were to stay there. Even if he has a job for the next 3 years , that is probably more than anyone in Argentina would guarantee.

We are certainly getting a lot more media attention from the league nowadays. It's amazing what hiring a named coach can do for the team's popularity.
As usual, I have high hopes for the upcoming season. It may sound odd, but I hope that Almeyda turns things around right away and makes me regret not renewing my season tickets.....
One thing I hope doesn’t change with the regime change is how well we’ve done avoiding injuries really impacting the season for the last 2 years. Injuires been happening at quite tolerable “now & again” pace instead of always feeling like it was only 7-8 players out of the best eleven available at any one time.
New @SJEarthquakes head coach Matias Almeyda has been named the 2018 @Concacaf Men's Football Coach of the Year for guiding Chivas to the Champions League title. Congratulations, @peladoalmeyda! https://t.co/nl85JQ2HCv— Robert Jonas (@robertjonas) January 15, 2019
Reassuring to know Almeyda has beaten Seattle, NYRB, and TFC to win the Champions League. He is well aware of the best MLS has to offer.
