The MLS roster page is now updated to 7/10/18 and still excludes Kashia (https://www.mlssoccer.com/rosters/2018/san-jose-earthquakes). The Quakes roster page includes him without the "International" tag (https://www.sjearthquakes.com/players). Likely, the Quakes need to open up an international slot for him, either by acquiring one from another team or somehow changing the designation of an existing international player (releasing, season ending loan, green card....).
Something is fishy here and while I’m at it where’s that inter league trade we’ve been promised (presumably for a left back)? Is Jessie on vacation...
International tag would have been ideal to have by the time he was eligible. Now all that’s left is his pending visa status.
I'm not surprised. This is not the sort of thing that an organization is likely to want to highlight.
It is easy to find. Click the SEASON PASS HOLDERS: Renew your seats today! box on the front page, then the "LETTER TO OUR FANS" tab.
The fascinating thing to me about this letter is that the bulk of it addresses everything OTHER than the Quakes. The World Cup in detail (both the current and 2026 editions) and the USWMNT topics take at least as much space in the letter. It's as if he is justifiably ashamed with the product he is actually selling...
Possibly they are working on a trade to free up an intl slot, or to acquire one? TT to Columbus for an intl slot? Some pretty heavy symbolism in that..., or maybe I would say it would be strongly emblematic of what's wrong with the Quakes.
Good thinking. Atlanta, Columbus, DC United, FC Dallas, Houston, LAFC, Minnesota, New England, NYCFC, NYRB, SKC, Toronto and Vancouver have free slots. Some of those came via trade. I don't know if a team can trade a traded slot. Nor did I look closely enough to see which teams used slots on draft picks or players too poor to ever make the game day 18. Other than San Jose, of course.
Wasn’t there some kind of delay on Vako’s additional to the roster over his international slot? It seems like Jesse pulls the trigger on a signing and THEN goes hunting for the slot. That’s the perfect way to get bent over by your fellow competitors. Maybe he’s dumber than John Doyle. That’s a scary thought
Trade Godoy, Magnus, Afolter, Qwiberg and Marie for that international slot and a bag of magic beans (shout out to quakes fan) is more like it
The Quakes made an International slot available for Kashia by loaning Paul Marie, presumably to Reno. I think this loan is season long and makes Marie ineligible to play for the Quakes this season. https://www.mlssoccer.com/rosters/2018/san-jose-earthquakes The MLS website refers to Kashia's eligibility in this article: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...r-responds-jungwirths-recent-criticism-roster The SJ website should be providing these types of updates.
Best of all it appears that no small animals, or short, blond benchwarmers with ebola were sacrificed in making this international transfer.
Except the Quakes appear to have blown a first round pick on a guy that will play zero minutes for the club this year and may require an international slot next season. Oh yeah, they have to BORROW Kevin Partida from Reno to play the position that Marie was drafted for. Lame
That would not be surprising. Whenever a Quakes midseason player is signed it seems like it usually takes a while before they can play and longer before they can play well. Players have to get paperwork, get game fit, get used to MLS travel schedules, weather, time zones, and other players. So it would be surprising if a player could come in on the first eligible date and immediately be an impact player in the first game.
Montreal has an international airport. Why cannot Kashia fly there? Unless he needs some sort of visa to go to Canada that he does not possess. The schedule has been out for months, and the FO knew his first eligibility would be in Canada, so this is another screw-up, unless the Canadian immigration authorities are being jerks. Eliminate Canadian ICE!!
Jesse doesn’t believe in MLS players, only Euro-Asians. Vako and Kashia will lead the way to the promised land.
