If Sunil has any class he resigns before the plane lands. Of course the entire coaching staff and most players should be done.

This is perhaps the largest failure in US sports history at the national team level.

Good bump. I'm all for a house cleaning at this point. I try to remain consistently positive in Most circumstances----but this is Too much.

Kick them all to the curb, or else ..................... this disaster WILL recur! :(

Wynalda should be President. why? he was only ussoccer player to continuously call-out the old-boy network.

remember when MB90 wanted to fight him for telling the truth about the nepotism?

This was underappreciated in BSMX so I'll leave it here. Some light comedy to lighten the blow.

Gab Marcotti said he'd be interested in serving if asked. We should start a campaign.

He's European-based and tasked but keeps half an eye on what's going on here between his citizenship and ESPNFC writer role. Actually made better suggestions for Jurgen's replacement than any of the American pundits and Sunil in Marsch and Vermes. He's an open-minded guy to the different circumstances the cultures have, but I'm sure would opt for the European or South American route if it made sense. He has plenty of connections with agents and teams overseas. He has some awareness of both systems to know what to draw from and leave out to be a fit here. He's very aware of history and interested in bureaucratic issues and hypothetical solutions for them.

I honestly think he'd be great in theory.

Wake me up when a soccer guy actually runs to lead the soccer federation. Not a wannabe professor. Not a lawyer. Not journalists. Not commentators.

A soccer guy. Someone who has played, developed players, developed/hired/fired coaches, and been immersed in the actual game.

This is a soccer federation. It needs serious soccer minds.

Earnie Stewart would be an interesting candidate.

Liked this post because it's coherent and succinct. We need a top-to-bottom review (and overhaul, presumably) of the entire structure of US soccer.

Yes they do. They don't get a regular pay check like you or I.

They get paid millions worth of dollars in luxury lifestyles, 5 star hotels, private jets, exotic vacations, and high class escorts.

That Bradley, Altidore, Howard, and Dempsey haven't already announced their retirement from the NT is an insult. And, please, no testimonial matches. Enough with the sentimentality.

SMH in disbelief at how out of touch with reality Gulati is.

He royally and catastrophically failed as head of the USSF. He has to resign. That's all there is to it.

It's an open and shut case.

Tying in what they did as players brought teams Jurgen Klinsmann. That shouldn't matter.

Earnie Stewart's results since joining Philly have been suspect enough. Faded last year then regressed and missed the playoffs this year with some real headscratchers, like the Bedoya DP deal and Simpson w/ allocation money supplanting Sapong initially.

We have to be more open-minded about this. The best man for the job is someone who is intelligent, a good speaker, dedicated, and comes up with cogent solutions to fix the problems we have.

I don't know Marcotti's background as a player. However, he's overweight. That may have precluded him from succeeding on the field, but won't in the boardroom. We already got a glimpse into how he'd handle hiring a coach. Suggested Marsch and Vermes without even thinking about it much. Those were among the 2 or 3 best practical choices at the time. Our actual president hired Bruce independent of his last year or two underachieving with the Galaxy. And many of our former players like Lalas supported it 100% at the time, thinking he was the best man for the job because of who he was in the past and having already done it.

Donna Shalala said there needs to be a revolution (and she'd know what warrants one as a former member of the Clinton Administration and current of Clinton Foundation). So I expect changes, regardless what the current rules say. People can change rules. And a lot of wealthy people are losing money. They don't stand for that.

I wonder if execs over at Foxsports, Nike, Coke, etc are making calls to the USSF boards.

Like to be a 'fly on the wall' when those calls take place.
