    http://www.thebluetestament.com/2015/8/11/9134083/sporting-kc-to-field-a-usl-team-for-2016

that will leave san jose and colorado as the only 2 western conference teams without a usl team

I think the best case scenario, as some have said, is that Leitch takes over whatever Doyle's responsibilities are supposed to be and Doyle's position is basically symbolic. In a more perfect world, if the team starts getting better with Leitch as the technical director, then the evidence would lead to Doyle being bad at his job and he will be ousted. The more cynical side of me thinks he might instead be looked at favorably by having the intelligence to hire Leitch for that position.

If the team stays the same, then I expect to see the typical business scenario where the guy at the top stays on despite all evidence pointing to them being worthless, while everyone underneath gets the blame. In that regard, Doyle knows what he's doing. In this day and age, it's difficult to believe that not everyone is seeing right through it, but given that I've seen it play out first hand several times, I at least won't be surprised when Leitch is sacrificed.

There was a scouting/analytics department formed after the Zura debacle. At this point, I'll out my source...my buddy WAS the department, and has since left the Quakes (after last years Seattle win @ Levi's, look at the results after said game!) for a better job. The position has yet to be filled. So they went back to old reliable for scouting...waiting for agents to contact them and using the league for player information. With Leitch now in charge, I hope that the Quakes, and Leitch in particular, will be more pro-active in searching out players THAT FIT OUR SYSTEM, whatever system we go with.

This is exactly what they need. They need to utilize all their assistants as scouts. If Ramiro is still there, he would be good. So would Dayak and Andre Luiz. It would be a lot better than waiting for videos from agents trying to sell their players to us. As I stated before, I seriously doubt anyone in the organization ever saw Innocent Emeghara playing at Livorno or Siena or that they even heard of him before he signed.

I have that skill set too! And I'd be happy to scout actual soccer players. Can I be your assistant? :D

    Go Quakes!!

Leitch is basically the assistant GM now. I think the most significant part of this move is that now we have a better connection between the academy and the first team. Doyle barely made an effort to scout our own freakin academy (and he sucks at scouting in general), but now we have the academy director--who knows every kid on the roster--with the ability to sign said kids. Maybe this is also some kind of a training of sorts to prepare Leitch to be the GM of our future USL team?

Incorrect. How can you suck at something, if you've never done it... ;)

If he didn't do any scouting before or know how to, he had better start learning fast or at least get someone to do it for him.

Oh I'm sure he will work with JD for a bit to get the gist, then I fully expect Chris to run with the ball and actually put in the time and effort necessary to be a decently run professional soccer club...as opposed to J 'just doin enough to get by' D.

Who took Leitch's spot running the youth academy? Is he doing both jobs?

...yeah, I think so, and Doyle's job too...we can hope :--), because of the well-known "Leitch inequality":

    Leitch/3 > Doyle

I see Hugo Perez is living in Nor Cal and doing soccer clinics. He did a fantastic job with USSF coaching the Under15s. I think he would be a great choice to be Director of Coaching for the Quake's Academy. His teams were a joy to watch because they built out of the back and played the ball on the ground. Kids like Tommy Thompson would love playing on teams like that.

I believe Hugo Perez was an assistant coach (or at least helped out) with the U17 USNT for a while also. I'm sure he could handle the job of working with youngsters.

Haven't we all been saying the same thing in the last few months on the board what Leitch reported? Or rather the Quakes are a team with a good aging defense and young GK who can't score a goal? I guess contrary to Dom's statement on how we are all EPL fans with fake names, we may know a little more than they do? Maybe we should all become assistant GM's?

Point taken, though I suppose that it wouldn't hurt for David Bingham to score another goal. :)
