Post about Bosnia's position in the FIFA rankings and what you think about our placing and future qualifications and which pots we will be in. Currently, we are 41st in the rankings, dropping two places. The next rankings come out on August 24th.
It's not actually that we dropped two places, our rankings remained the same, but other teams got higher points, and went ahead of us.
We will go up a few spots if we can beat Greece tomorrow, but it'll be tough with all these injuries.
Ou ranking will now definitely be higher, because we drew with Greece and they're a Pot 1 team. We should've won though, and we could've been way higher if we did.
They aren't pointless, the rankings determine our seeding and which pot we are in for every qualification process. Being in Pot 3 has really helped us with getting easier groups, which we have gotten for ECQ2012 and WCQ2014.
Dude if you team is good enough to beat Spain then it doesn't matter what pot or what group you are in as long as you can beat your teams in your group and crap like that. So yes the FIFA rankings are wrong and they are bullshit.
But the FIFA Rankings can make things easier for teams like Bosna, for example, by giving us Pot 3 this year. Imagine if we pulled a team like Switzerland from Pot 3 had we been lower, but instead we get a Pot 4 team like Lithuania. The Rankings put you in situations like our own. So basically, in other words, it makes qualifying much easier for us and there's no risk of getting hard teams from Pot 3.
The August 2011 edition f the FIFA World Rankings was released today, and Bosnia has risen up to 39th. We were there a couple months ago, but we fell due to a lot of teams going up from the Copa America. So we've risen up to 22nd, our best in our history (our previous best was 25). I can't believe we actually made it to 22nd place. We broke our 25th ranked record. Only problem is that the Euro playoffs isn't seeded based on fifa rankings but overall performances in qualifiers in the past 5 years. I guess we were pretty good in the past 5 years??
