any recent updates on whether or not an "outer skin" is ever going to make it on the exterior of Avaya? The wind in the concourse area just sucks big time. And when we will all the parking be paved?
Lots will get paved when the rest of the Coleman Highline gets built out, but, look forward to be parking in multi-level garages at that point.
I don't think I've seen this mentioned yet in this thread. It seems that we potentially will have a hotel built near Avaya on the Coleman Highline property. https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/06...iott-brand-eyed-google-apple-amazon-facebook/
Hotel(s) have been part of the plans since the beginning and has been mentioned several times here. They just hadn't been specific on what chain would be going .
The rendering in that article is outdated. The Quakes gave up its rights to the land to build soccer fields beyond the existing training field to pursue the now dead plan to build an Academy/Public Field complex at Guadalupe Gardens. The commercial real estate developer incorporated that area into Coleman Highline. Still no word on where or if those fields will be built.
I know that it’s still 8 years away but thinking it over , I can’t help but think how the Quakes and Avaya will have to be involved with the 2026 World Cup in some capacity. Of course all of the games will most likely be played at Levi’s (let's hope the renovate by then) but the teams will definitely use Avaya as s training ground. If Brazil used Buck Shaw stadium in 1994, there won’t be anywhere else to go but Avaya. The practice games and warmups will probably be held there. That’s great exposure for the Quakes! There will be 48 teams, 80 games , and the USA will have 10 US cities. There were 9 Venues in 1994 so who else will it be? I'm thinking either Atlanta or Miami. Detroit will probably not get a bid... Avaya, Stanford, and SJSU are proposed as training sites. There are 17 US sites in the bid that have to be cut down to 10. From Edmonton to Mexico City and everywhere in between, we are united.🇨🇦🇲🇽🇺🇸 | #United2026 pic.twitter.com/1aJu4VknSU— United 2026 (@united2026) June 12, 2018
Good point. Maybe, in 8 years, MLS will have "evolved" enough to recognize that, as host to the World Cup, with 48 teams and 79 games being played across the MLS landscape (well, US and Canada, anyway), that they suspend the MLS season for the duration. The best part for me is that Concacaf gets 6 slots and Canada will have a guaranteed slot. Probably the only way they would ever play at the event. Too bad it's too late for some of my all-time favorite Canadians like DeRo and Onstad to play.
MLS already did postpone two weeks or so from its season for the previous two World Cups. The only reason why MLS didn't postpone any part of the season this year is because the USMNT didn't qualify (that certainly won't stop me from watching this year's World Cup regardless, though), which won't be the case in 2026. The Avaya parking lots served as staff parking for Super Bowl 50 at Levi's. Also, ESPN held their game-day celebrity "tailgate" party in the stadium. A little birdy told me that Don Garber was there (so what?), as was Tyrod Taylor (damn, why wasn't I invited?).
The 2026 MLS season, I'm sure will be suspended for a month or so during the WC. With the USA , Canada , Mexico and I'm sure 2 or 3 more Concacaf teams, I don't see how teams can withstand playing through a World Cup tournament with depleted rosters. Also, who would attend the Quakes vs. Becks Miami on Saturday when they just witnessed spectacular WC match with Brazil beating Germany 7-1? Or better yet a USA beating Italy 3-0 on the strength of a 37 year old Freddy Adu's three goals? Where else could they train if not Avaya or Stanford?
We let Mexico use them a month or so ago. I think he means facilities as in our training fields and locker rooms. Whenever we’re not using them

Allianz Field. 1000355601757736960 is not a valid tweet id Wow, this is the view from the ADA seating at @allianzfield in the middle of the supporters section! It’s pathetic to me that Avaya Stadium has the smallest capacity of any current MLS Stadium. Our ownership should be ashamed - because it is (literally) a concrete (and steel) statement of the smallness of our owners’ ambition for the club.
Quakes' ownership should be embarrassed about any number of things, but Avaya Stadium is not one of them.
I respectfully disagree. The referee and visiting team locker rooms are (from my conversations) the smallest and worst of any SSS, save, perhaps Mapfre which is a generation older.
