I gotcha...i thought after the 5 people were repped and the 24 hours were over you could rep the other guys again...but I know you know what you are talking about here...LOL.
The system is pretty crazy. Virtually all the rep I've received lately is gray and worthless, and when I try to rep people it's impossible. I no longer try. Not worth it. The feedback function, which is the only think I really cared for in the old reputation system, has been destroyed with this one. All we've done is exchange one dysfunctional system for another.
With the inability to give it...unless we give it out to 30 other people before. 30? Really? Thats all?
This is now apparently omnipresent: "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to SoAndSo again." If you can't give rep, then you can't give feedback. Pretty simple, frankly.
Sounds like a bug, because there is no reason you can't give rep to someone you have never given it to before. We'll take a look.
Yeah , I haven't had that problem. The direct feedback can also be done through the guest messg in one's profile, Pms, or guetbook's postings.
I'd just like to point out that the same thing has been happening to me. Nearly every one I try to give rep to gives me the spread around message. It's been like this since the reset. And I've seen others mention this in different areas of the forum. So, that's a few more people that it's happening to.
It appears to work now. Apparently I was unaware of the new 30-person thing. Because the people I was trying to rep must have been within the 30-person time limit without me being aware of it. And a couple of people here (thank you!) have repped me and it has shown up so I'm up to four points now. Whoo-hoo!

Maybe that's the problem. I doubt I rep more than 30 people on this site on anything like a regular basis. In fact, there's probably not even that many. That means rep is basically crippled for me.
Thing is, I tended to provide feedback to folks for particular posts, which was easy with a link right there. I'm much less likely to send a pm or write in a guestbook with a link to the post, much less rep 30 random people so I can provide feedback on the post I'm interested in.
Oh, I agree with ya, it is easier with a shorter "cycle", I have even used it to alert people to different things other than the post at hand, for example: Hey dude , clear up your PM in-box, or send me the bonus match for the Prediction thread
