Re: Statistic: Reps as a % of Total Posts grey rep is from people who don't have enough rep themselves yet to give green.
Re: Statistic: Reps as a % of Total Posts Those gray nipples are from lowly souls trapped in purgatory, so their opinion is irrelevant anyway.
I thought it was actually nice when it was feedback. That way we didn't have threads cluttered with "rep this guy! LOL!" "must spread", etc. But if you really didn't like what someone said or if your buddy gave the lineup you liked or insulted the thing you didn't you could give them a little backslap. For example, I like being able to tell Martin Fischer privately and easily that I hate his guts, but I don't need to give him negative "reputation". Now it's back? So we will have all the stupid bullshit again, so we can revisit it again and change it again. Absent any reasons FOR the rep system, what is the ********ing point?
Most of the possible answers for that question exist in this very thread. I'm not sure if you've read it yet... but you did ask.
I read through a lot of this, and in the end it seems that rep is a fun game for some people. Hurray for them. Some people feel validation by a mob's approval. Hurray for them. Paying members, at the very least, should be allowed to have rep turned off entirely. Let people opt into the rep system, if they need some stupid green blobbies. Perhaps give people the option only to leave feedback versus rep. I don't want to rep anyone and I don't want any rep in return. But feedback is actually useful. This is as all as stupid as BigSoccer All-Star.
I'll tell you what is stupid...people not caring about rep yet wanting to shut it off for themesleves because they are a paying member and therefore above the "useless and childish fun". How about this for an easy out; You don't want to rep anyone? Don't do it. You don't want to recieve rep? Ignore the green "blobbies" and simply read the feedback attached to them. Now is that so freaking hard? a green blob with a, "Great Post". Yeah, that's "mob validation" allright... And, "Hurray for them"? Why the sour grapes, man? Cause that is what it sounds like. I'm sorry you did not always get picked first in the playground.
I see it as a political battle; the Democrats want to restore the rep system , and the Republicans want to restrict it or abolish it. It's a deadlocked issue
You could not have made a better argument for why rep is stupid. Thank you. Agitated juveniles like it - I think that's what I said, too. I think non-paying members also should be able to choose between rep or feedback, if there is going to be rep at all. I figure the chances of getting more options would come first to paying members. But if the offer is for all, then Positive Rep to Jesse.
Stupid? How the hell was that an arguement to validate its "stupidity". Let me sum it up for you again; don't like it, don't use it. Ironically, I already did a few pages back - you know, sympathy rep and all. Right now I got the "Must spread..." lol.
