We got very lucky because of that. People need to remember we are still talking about the player who captained the team in 2018. We may want him to fade into oblivion but under Berhalter, we know he’s going to continue to be a mainstay moving forward. More than likely, he’s a starter.
All information I received leading into 2018 is that US Soccer saw Taitague one of the elite prospects. Above guys like Weah. They saw him as someone they thought they could integrate into the full USMNT. His injuries really hampered him obviously. As such I think they will slowly bring him along, allowing him to play with the U20s moving forward, but that doesn't belittle how bright a star they feel he can be moving forward. A good run with the US U20s is in store for him, and I think if he stays healthy he makes the bench for Schalke at some point this year. Lletget is a shuttler in the midfielder. He too battled devastating injury that set his USMNT career back. I feel like he is a better overall midfielder than Arriola. He has versatility as he can play outwide or more tucked in.
I really don’t want to believe this so I’m just going to stick my head back in the sand and act like this never happened
Taitague is a very special talent I just got to see him with the U-20’s in camp, he was just on a different level compared to everyone else.
Was torn on taking him or Dwyer... ultimately went with Dwyer because of how well I think he’s going to complement Jozy and maxing Jozys skillset is important for our side to work. Also there’s still a bunch of talented mids out there. I’m surprised he lasted to the 3rd tho but then again there’s been a lot reaches on talent and not performances. One issue with these drafts will always be the voters. They do love that new pu$$y vs the here and now. That’s likely why Trapp fell too.
He's gone a little cold lately, but here's Sabbi's amazing goal from earlier this season. Great great great great goal from Emmanuel Sabbi for Hobro IK in the Danish Superliga. He's been tearing it up – 4g/1a in five games this year. Nice to see young American attackers getting a chance to play.I suspect he'll be on the #USMNT roster for next month's friendlies. pic.twitter.com/lXDStFFKmZ— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) August 11, 2018
Had a really hard time with that one, mostly because there’s a lot of talent at CB. There’s a lot of other players that have value on the board. Matt Besler is gonna be a perfect fit for our side tho. Hoping the next couple of players fall right. Liking how the team is taking shape. There’s a particular player on the board who I’m very surprised is still there. I was torn on drafting him but just don’t see how he’d have worked in the 11 without playing him out of position. Whoever drafts him will have a steal... hope their set up right tho or it will bug me.
Cannon and Besler are great picks. Besler might be the most undervalued player in the NT pool. One of the few involved who largely does not deserve blame for World Cup qualifying failure.
Good pick by Matthew. That's precisely who I was aiming for with my next pick but I wasn't sure he would fall.
On the subject, also a thank you is in order to @TheFalseNine for doing painstaking organizing and recruiting, even when you wouldn't be competing yourself.
I honestly wasn’t even aware of Duane Holmes, didn’t even have him on my list of eligible players so that was cool to find out about him!
Some samples of Holmes' recent play. Probably will have him at LW with Pulisic at RW, Mendez at 10, Roldan at 8. https://streamable.com/0ariz 1086773002728017920 is not a valid tweet id 💫 @DuaneHolmes 🎯 @CBryson44 🚀 @TomLawrence99 What a goal. 👌Highlights from #DCFCvSFC 👉 https://t.co/E0FZPIhZld pic.twitter.com/obc7kYDrbV— Derby County (@dcfcofficial) January 6, 2019 apologies for the crummy stuttering video but you get the idea -- constantly created danger yesterday pic.twitter.com/jJCZ7yaMXo— scuffed (@scuffedpod) January 6, 2019 1080533098306174976 is not a valid tweet id
I like him a lot but disagree with your draft post saying CM or CAM. At this stage in his development he’s a winger. But he’s a good pick and hopefully for the national team continues to develop.
