Peak implies a steady upward trend.

Japan's performance was more like a sudden explosion.

Overhyped? Son is the best Asian player atm by far. Don’t equate his individual quality with the KNT as a whole. If you meant what was overhyped was his presence in the KNT carrying Korea to lift the Asian cup then I can maybe agree with you there

Japan's CB Tomiyasu is a beast. He is tall, strong, quick and good at passing the ball. I can't believe he is still 20. Reports say many top clubs are after him. Meanwhile KMJ goes to China. Guys, I'm really depressed.

On the bright side, Carlos Quiroz is really going to leave Iran. He said "Good bye" during the press conference. Good news. Iran will decline a lot. As I said on another thread, Iranian players are just garbage. Their manager made them one of the best teams in Asia.

I don't think Iranian players are "garbage" but I agree that solid management with a clear and consistent philosophy raised their quality exponentially.

Is Xavi a reincarnation of Paul the Octopus?

I honestly don't know what to say. I cannot believe the team played such a subpar game this tournament. If anything, I think Son shouldn't be given captain so he can focus on being aggressive and putting his best foot forward. But then again, he's tired from the Spurs which means the whole team should bring their A game but they didn't. The South Korean team really isn't doing well. Did the "I'm not going to the army" mindset make the team too lax? I don't get it. Lee Seung Woo should've been in more too. AHHHHHHHH!

Not sure how I feel about finals. Saying that Qatar is the "Asian champion" is embarrassing (for the continent), but it would also at least mean we lost to the champs.

It's a frequent pattern when we seem to hit that certain point in time frame where we end up losing to a certain team, or hit an exit from a tournament, some folks easily get into panic mode and start talking stupid.

It's frustrating yes, but take a break if it's too much for you. The Choi Kang-hee, Hong Myung-bo, Stielike, Shin Tae-yong eras were terrible and extremely frustrating as is, no need to add more unnecessary stress on top of that. BUT, we're starting from scratch again, and there's a lot of time ahead of us to look forward to.

I can guarantee you he will become some sort of WC ambassador.

and he will most likely be swimming in a pool of benjamins.

Well, that prediction scared me from the start because it's motherfcking Qatar and they control FIFA.
