He could go to Swindon Town for all I care.
Just as long as he doesn't waste his talent in China.

JHS’s greatest contribution was being a ********up so Bento had no choice but to start KMJ

Yeah least of all on this board, most wanted Stielike sacked after the first leg vs. Uzbekistan WCQ. Even before that, most people became disillusioned with him :ROFLMAO: after the Spain friendly fiasco (sparring practice).

For those of you who have not participated in sports at a very high level (I'm talking about Division 1 or higher), it may be a difficult concept. An opinion about which keeper is better than another is actually pretty complicated, due to so many vairables -- the defense, the opponent, the particular play, the environment etc. Also, since no two games are exactly alike, one has to guess which would have done better. The book "Moneyball" tries to get at this more scientifically -- it's not about who can throw a 95mph fastball -- because good pitching is about being intelligent vs certain batters with certain tendencies -- a strong arm is good but not sufficient. Same type of variables with keepers. A good reflex helps, but reading the play and positioning for that play, anticipation, even knowing tendencies of certain opposing players will help. This is not easy to analyze.

Just some things for those of you who like to claim one keeper is so "obviously" better. The only thing obvious about such a statement is not flattering on you.

Maybe, just maybe, Bento chooses KSG because he fits better with Bento's system. A GK who can reliably make passing plays with the defenders as well as distributing the ball forward. We've had zero goals conceded thus far, right?

I like JHW (and LSW) too, fellers. But the amount of JHW & LSW nuthugging that's going on here is insane. Let the man (Bento) do his job. I'm sure he has a little more experience than us lot.

Lol imo, there is no difference in pass play between KSG and CHW. Also in any other aspect (aerial duel, anticipation, commanding, etc), I can't find any big difference. At the same time, that means CHW (besides his insane reflexes) doesn't offer much more than KSG either.
Bento just favors KSG over CHW, so I have to accept that, even though I don't agree with him.

I understood his post, but for me he went too far. If we go by that logic we shouldn't compare any players at all.

In the end it's just about preferences. Of course it is difficult to compare two GKs, but imo a neutral observant can see pros and cons to judge whether he likes him or not.

Btw, even Kim Byung Ji, an ex NT GK, said that CHW is the better GK, but he think KSG just plays the style that Bento likes more, and I think he has a better eye than any of us.

If Im completely honest this AFC cup big teams have downgraded from 2015 a lot. I think even mid tear teams have good chance to advance for semifinals. Im not surprised if Saudi arabia beats Japan.. Or Uzbekistan beats Australia.

qatar/iraq will trouble korea. uzbekistan can definitely beat australia. saudi isnt beating japan. when you play the same game as your opposition with inferior players you are already at a huge disadvantage. saudis are similarly sized to japanese players but less technical and less experienced. only way saudis win is if they out will their opponents but i dont see their current group of players having the discipline to outrun and impose the necessary physicality against a team that is naturally superior in stamina
