He was originally linked to the Iraq and Cameroon job, but it seems like the Philippines was far more enticing, after all they have their star GK Neil Etheridge as well(Although he withdrew from taking part in the tournament).

Yeah, it's quite surprising that there are not only more foreign managers this time around, but there's a handful of notable ones as well: Zaccheroni, Lippi, CQ, Cuper, Bento, Pizzi, Rajevac, Verbeek, Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Apparently, players will not only receive a yellow card for simulation plays, but will also have to cough up $1k in fine.

I bet AFC referees would count every foul against Korea (including legit ones) as simulations.

No, he will not get sacked, that'd be stupid. If the German fraud was able to get numerous chances/lifelines even when failing miserably, I don't see why Bento shouldn't get the same treatment. If anything, it's too quick and too soon to be calling for his head, especially right after the Asian Cup.

I also doubt that the KFA wants to eat the release clause. And hire another manager. We aint Manchester United.

TBH if he gets the team eliminated at the group stage, he deserve the axe. It would be a phenomenal failure on his part (and the whole team-- but the coach takes responsibility) It was stupid for KFA to offer a 4 year contract.

Interesting explanaton for the 59-year-gold-drought for Korea in the Asian Cup.
After winning their second title in 1960, the KFA placed an order for the gold medals to be given to the players, but apparently the jewellery shop owner plated the medal with gold. The reason being that the KFA didn't give enough money for pure gold medals.
So the gold drought curse began.
    Sad story ain't it....
There's one happy turn around news, though.
Hong MyungBo and his KFA staff, in hopes of ending the curse, passed out the real gold medals to surviving players and family members of deceased ones in 2014.
