Fisher wants to invest in AC Milan? https://www.football-italia.net/122976/fisher-ready-invest-Milan Don't the Quakes supposedly have a partnership with Inter Milan? https://sbisoccer.com/2018/03/san-j...-form-partnership-regarding-youth-development
“Partnership” in name only. I’ve yet understood what these so called euro-mls clubs produce. Other than producing Simon Dawkins initially and I think playing an exhibition, what exactly did the Spurs-Quakes partnership do?
The 49ers are a terrible organization that bribed city council members to steal tax payer money for a private venture that they charge astronomical amounts of money to witness. They can literally go to hell. Also, we should all be worried about pro teams buying stake in other pro teams. It is monopolizing sports entertainment and is terrible for fans, who already get screwed.
Great feature that I overlooked but which was called to my attention yesterday. (Apologize if someone previously posted it.) https://www.sjearthquakes.com/post/...uakes-sph-scott-forster-us-san-jose-spotlight
Action photos from Quakes fan / Content magazine editor Daniel Garcia. https://sanjoseearthquakes.exposure.co/amateur-photo-night-daniel-Garcia Content is a great hipster-friendly coffee-table-style quarterly on San Jose. Past features have included Jon Busch and Tommy Thompson. Garcia and his son are Quakes season ticket holders.
I was induced to actually visit the website. Perfect parody. http://contentmagazine.bigcartel.com/product/content-t-shirt
I suppose this has been posted somewhere but it bears repeating: From the Armchair Analyst: San Jose Earthquakes: F Danny Hoesen has been a bright spot, but that’s about it. By and large the guys San Jose Earthquakes front office have brought in over the past 18 months have been overpaid and have underperformed, the midfield lacks any sort of structure, the defense is gappy and there’s no left back. I don’t understand much about how most of these signings were scouted and signed. I don’t understand why, in what is essentially a wasted year, head coach Mikael Stahre is doubling- and tripling-down on veterans who have shown they're not good enough instead of playing – and, presumably, coaching up – the promising kids on this roster. I don’t understand what San Jose’s on-field identity is supposed to be (I defy you to tell me what their playing style is), and I don’t understand what their off-field identity is supposed to be either. The few things they got right last year – they were playing some fun, if defensively naive soccer under Chris Leitch for a hot minute, remember – have been swept under the carpet in favor of ... nothing much that I can see. What they could’ve done better: Let’s just start with signing a left back.
Over on MLS, there's a list of the top five MLS stadium first games of all time. Naturally, Avaya Stadium is not on that list.
"MLS Earns Second-Largest Regular Season Audience Ever" (Sports Media Watch - Friday, 7/20/18) The article's title refers to last Sunday's Atlanta-Seattle match on FOX, but take notice of who's match had the highest regular season audience... GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
This thread seems to get smaller and smaller each year. The Earthquakes have gone from being all over the local news in 2015 (when Avaya opened) to barely even being a footnote. Sad...
The Quakes were just in Sal Pizzaro's Mercury News column today. Outside the sports page ghetto. (I did not link it here, but I did elsewhere where it was most pertinent).
Yeah they're getting some attention for being bad and dysfunctional. :-( I guess if you're mediocre it is not as interesting.
