Right. Because KNT is Spain. Is this the Korean media making up stuff or is Hong experimenting because he can't count on PCY?
We need alternate plans. Even if JDW gets in form, we'd be running real thin depth wise. Fact of the matter is that its better to have 11 good to great players than 10 + 1 LDG (or even KSW) even if we'd end up weaker on set pieces. And putting SHM on top would be like playing with a midfielder as a 9 as well.
I agree that we need alternate plans. But going striker less, and asking Koo to play out of position, and all the required adjustment on the team chemistry--that's kinda crazy if you ask me. At the end of the day, I believe that HMB has to rely on PCY at the WC. I know what he's said about not calling up players w/o regular playing time at their clubs, but he would be foolish not to have PCY on the 23-player roster, nor to have him as his first option. His other options (including Ji and KSW) are distant second choices. Also remember that PCY wasn't "in form" (love that fairly useless phrase) for Arsenal when he was called up for the London Olympics, and he scored what is arguably one of the most critical goals in recent KNT history.
I'd love to hear alternate solutions but KJC is the closest thing to a HMB approved proven scorer we have. PCY isn't only not playing matches, he's not been practicing possibly since April when he broke his foot or even kicking the ball regularly with boot camp most of the summer. I'm not writing him off but these friendlies are perfect opportunities to at least give it a go with nothing lost if it fails.
any lineup is just speculation. for Haiti it wouldnt be a bad experiment. but any lineup with HKY in it shouldnt be taken seriously imo.
Most likely offensive lineup would be JDW up top, with SHM - KJC - LCY supporting him. Not bad Also confirms HMB is tinkering with KJC as false 9... http://sports.news.naver.com/sports...&mod=read&office_id=109&article_id=0002610811
Nice to see Kim jin Hyeon get a start http://sports.news.naver.com/sports...&mod=read&office_id=208&article_id=0000000723
Wonder what kind of team Croatia will bring after their massive qualifier today against Serbia. In 2010 I actually thought we would have a chance against teams like Croatia, now it seems like we'll get our asses kicked.
we will likely have as good a chance as any. Croatia are the ones who have to make the long flight and have the qualifier. i wouldnt be surprised to see them play the backups to start.
Maybe HMB reads BSK as well More seriously, after Ji's poor showing + PCY's state of limbo, hopefully we see this again soon. And frankly in the WC we need a forward who will press the opposition deep and KJC would provide that workrate.
It will be interesting if Croatia puts out a full strength squad. I'm hoping we can avenge a 4-0 loss, but my head says that Mandzukic is going to destroy our back 4 again.
no surprise there. figured they wouldnt make the trip on such short notice. bet they arent even on the ground yet.
Croatia Squad: GK Dario Krešić GK Antonio Ježina DF Darijo Srna (c) DF Domagoj Vida DF Dejan Lovren DF Hrvoje Milić DF Igor Bubnjić DF Josip Pivarić MF Ivan Rakitić MF Ivan Perišić MF Arijan Ademi MF Alen Halilović MF Marin Tomasov FW Eduardo FW Nikola Kalinić FW Leon Benko
i can't blame them for sending a 1.5 squad. I hope we can unsettle them so they bring their A squad next time. the Croats have so much talent these days. SON! SHOW THEM YOUR BOSS!!
