A place to talk nonsense. I'm excited about Welbeck, not really because I thought he was great, but because everyone in England seems really upset that we got him. I'm also wondering if anyone has heard anything about bringing in a CB on a free.
Van Gaal just came out and said United sold Welbeck to us because Welbeck did not meet the United standard
I mean what else is van Gaal supposed to say when the brass at United told him 3rd place or higher is what the goal is for the season? If you could get Falcao or Wellbeck, you'd take Wellbeck? Sure you would.
Did they really say 3rd or higher? Moyes probably wasn't as good as we thought when he was at Everton, but there's no way he's as bad as United are making him out to be.
United have Falcao and Arsenal have Welbeck. It's done, over with and not changing. So let's just go from there.
Falcao was never as good as you apparently think he still is, and now he's 29 (if not older) and has had three knee surgeries. Straight up, I'd take Welbeck, while United chose to pay more for one year of Falcao. We can revisit this when the season is over, but I got time on my side with this argument.
Falcao is on the downswing for sure. It's basically the van Persie signing for them again, but at 3x the cost
Sure he is, but we're not talking about some small club that needs Moneyball their way to success. If Falcao is "only" as good as van Persie was for a season or even a season and a half, it will have been a very successful move for Man Utd. They've got the money, and a willingness to spend it, to purchase more players. They're in win-now mode and Falcao seems like a decent choice.
Sources (Mirror, Express) are once again siting other sources (CaughtOffside) about an £11m deal being in place to sign Khedira in January. I thought I'd link it here, since its not really about transfers . . . http://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/0...-real-madrid-for-contract-rebel-sami-khedira/
