Pulisic makes more sense from a marketing perspective than he does from a footballing one. That's not to say he's a bad player by any means, but from a pure football standpoint there are better options at RW out there. We should be sending out feeler offers to Barca for Dembele. It's obvious they are getting fed up with him and a decent offer could lead to them cutting their losses. Another one to monitor is the Isco situation at Madrid. He's been out of favor off and on for a couple seasons now which is worrying but he's still one of the best pure talents in the world and would give us the type of player we havent had for a long time but City are full of. Again, this is all for naught if Jose is still around because these are definitely not his type of players.
Yep, he might be my favorite player to watch. If he were more physically gifted he'd be a top 5 player in the world.
I ll take Pulisic for that price at RW. 1) still has time to develop 2) Proven in a very good league at that age (multiple good seasons under his belt) 3) Great head on his shoulders (probably the most important piece for me) Cons: 1) not a dribbler type that looks to beat his man first 2) not fast enough/physical Pros: 1) Good positional understanding 2) Very good technique 3) good passing and delivery/vision Sancho would be a good one to look at but I still need another impressive season out of him.
Bottom line though, if the right side of our attack is not addressed going into next season, it will reflect negligence of the highest order and it will be inexcusable. As previously stated, there are too many viable prospects at RW/RWF who are not at destination clubs at this time, not to fix that ongoing problem. Some players are more ready than others, but there is still a pretty long list of players to choose from.
Napoli have turned down a £91m offer for defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Manchester United. (Source: Corriere dello Sport) pic.twitter.com/9Hek25CgSD— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) December 1, 2018
£91M for the guy to get benched and train with the reserves after a bad result? To be never heard from again because he liked one of Pogba’s social media posts?
Duncan Castles has reported in today's Sunday Times that Koulibaly is indeed a transfer target for United and that De Laurentiis has slapped a £90mil price tag on him. Who cares what Mourinho does with him or anybody on the team to be honest? As far as I'm concerned, everything is already about the next manager, after Mourinho gets kicked to the curb sometime next year. That's exactly why the talk that AP should go and we should stand idlely by and let it happen, is hilarious to me. AP has been given a raw deal by Mourinho (and frankly was just plain done wrong by him). Everyone can see that. And while we are up against it to keep him at the club and sign a new contract, we have to hope that Woodward or fingers crossed our new DoF, can somehow persuade him that he still does have a future potentially with the clubclub, as soon as next season. Same goes with Pogs, Martial and Bailly among others, even if we have more control of these situations, unlike AP whose contract will be up next summer. It may be a longshot, but his talent and what little he's shown is worth is putting a fight for. Mourinho be damned at this juncture...
https://bleacherreport.com/articles...eave-manchester-united-real-madrid-interested Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari has reportedly told his club to sign Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata by next summer. Spanish outlet El Gol Digital (h/t James Walters of the Daily Express) reported the player will not sign a new deal to remain at Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season. Los Blancos could then move for the Spain international as a free agent. This move has never made more sense than now.
Love Mata and I like having him as a squad option. That being said, we've got Gomes who should be knocking on the door of the first team and next season should be the time to start bringing him up. And if that means getting rid of Mata, then so be it, as hard a decision it would be. As to where he'd end up next, not too worried about him on that front: there will be good options for him lined up. Not entirely sure about Real, but there will be good clubs in Europe after him.
If there was a viable way for both players to be together on the same team, even just for a season, that would be personal preference tbh. Hard to think of a better person to mentor Gomes and show him the ropes than Mata. Not to mention that he still has actual practical uses as a player himself. So while from a practical/pragmatic point of view, I get why Mata would have to move on, it still is not necessarily an easy or joyful thought from my perspective...
That's bogus though. We need a total overhaul. We need to get rid of 8 players this offseason. Thin squad or not we can start from there.
Bogus or not, I don't agree, at all. There is an overhaul needed, but it can realistically be done incrementally, over the course of a year. The players I would move on this coming summer are: Jones, Rojo, Valencia, Darmian and McTominay (on loan). The next phase by summer 2020 would be: Mata, Fellaini, AY and possibly Smalling as well. But all 4 could play some type of role in the team for next season, even if it's just as squad guys...
I think we're going to lose AP, Pogba, possibly dave. Regardless, we need to get rid of the trash and move forward. Stop giving new contracts to 30+ year olds.
Unless we're somehow daft enough not to let Mourinho go by the end of the season, there's no way we're letting Pogba go. Given his current contract situation, United are still very much in control there and he's our golden goose commercially. Dave is a more sticky situation: we've already activated the option on him, I believe but if a deal can not be struck, the time to cash in will be next summer. Again though, considering the price quality keepers go for nowadays, I believe that the club will work something out with him eventually. As far as AP is concerned, he's the one more likely to go because his contract is up next summer. It might take a miracle at this stage to keep him, but I would hope somehow that Mourinho (who really is the one who did him wrong) leaving, might give the club a sliver of hope in getting him to sign a new deal. So yeah, we'll see but 2 out of 3, I'm very confident will be at the club next season. As far as handing contracts to 30yr olds+, it's really not that cut and dry, as some of them are more useful than others. Plus, our policy to give just one yr contracts to players of that age is a sensible one imo and one that works.
Why don't we get rid of the shit ones first then. Mata would be an excellent squad player and dressing room presence in a top 2 side. We have too many first teamers who offer no upside and would bring in far more money. If I'm looking to overhaul this side then I want technical ability, tactical intelligence and application to be at the forefront. Mata is top 3 in all of these as an outfield player in our squad.
I want Lozano at RW.. Plus he is adaptable on both flanks and can drop in as false 9.. PSV are out of Europe and hopefull we can start negotiations in Jan.
We don't need more players who might be disrupting to a dressing room at the moment. I agree Dembele would be a great buy. But if Barca are getting sick of his attitude, then sequestering him in a place like Manchester is only going to make it worse, I feel.
