Well, NorCal is burning, again...we’ve been w/o power now since Saturday night...76,000 acres have burned, still going...

Appreciate the banter/reports on games as I can’t watch at all...

Appreciate what you have...

 

Honest question: is living in California worth the natural disasters and high cost of living? I always seriously wonder this, especially with more and more Californians moving to my neck of the woods. Don't get me wrong, I love what California has to offer (weather and natural beauty-wise) but I always felt like it was a place I could enjoy on vacation and then go back to real life. That's also easy for me to say living in the same area I grew up in.

 

Yeah - I grew up here and so did my wife and kids...and one of my parents...and both of hers...so leaving is not so easy...consider it on a regular basis though...

 

I'm always on board for a Houston team losing.

 

Couldn't care less about baseball but love the booing of the orange stain ad.

I would think twice about living in those heavily forest surrounded communities like Paradise (used to be) - but they are more in the real mountains in the east of the state.

The problems of recent years aside, Sonoma/Napa/Mendocino is a truly beautiful place. I was really worried that Healdsburg might burn last week. One of my favourite places in Ca.I go up there a lot.

The overheating planet is having the effect in CA of there being more fires than the services can throw big enough armies of firefighters at quickly enough to contain them from becoming massive.

The real horror is that large numbers of er-people actually listen to this entirely intelligence-vacuumed, human land-fill warble as if he is saying something from the point of view of one with good knowledge of the general concepts, let alone of the analytical nuances and measurements and variables, involved in what he is saying.

Its a big problem with the 21st Century world. People have largely become so reactionary to anything that speaks in opposition to what they have been conditioned to believe in that they will wilfully accept the pseudo-politicial ramblings of a person that they know intuitively that they would not accept in any other important circumstance.
I wonder what Darwin would make of this - as it seems to go more against the survival purpose instincts of nature than to bolster them .....?

Back from a week offline, visiting some family in Santa Barbara. Sampled some good Santa Ynez wine while coughing on the smoke from the fires in Santa Maria. Loved my time living in Norcal but on the whole glad I moved on, great place to visit though.
What a week for LFC!! Loving the crazy drama but mostly the good results in the end.
