what if the FK is taken and it doesn't result in a goal chance? restart play? take the FK again? drop ball? wtf??
oh this one - or rather two, combined - are really good If the ball strikes the referee and leads to a change of possession, a chance or a goal, a drop ball is given AND If a dropped ball is given inside either penalty area, it is dropped for the defending team's goalkeeper when play restarts. For dropped balls outside the penalty area, the ball is dropped for a player on whichever team last touched the ball. All other players must remain at least 4.5 yards away from the ball until play restarts. soooooo .... Attacker shoots from just outside the box. It hits the ref and bounces to a defender ..... ref stops play ..... defenders move away the 4.5 metres .... refs drops the ball for attacking team to have - essentially - a free shot on goal. End result: the defending team is put at a huge disadvantage, simply coz the ref got in the way. or this .... Attacker shoots in the box ... it hits the ref ... bounces to another attacker who passes it to a mate, who scores. Is that goal given or not -- is it a goal "chance" only if it results directly from hitting the ref? Since when has the ball hitting the ref been a big problem ffs? Is it just me, or are they fixing things that don't need fixing?
is "result in a goal chance" a totally subjective construct? must a player on the FK team touch the ball ( head, foot, leg, body part )? What would be instructive is a 5 minute video elaborating goods and no-goods. Hosted by Sepp Bleeter, as a community service, since he cannot properly participate in FIFA activities.
a goal chance = a shot or header towards the net (even if it is saved easily, or goes miles wide or high). what is unclear is - how long / how many passes will be allowed for the chance to occur? - if the offending team totally hacks the attacker down while "denying the opportunity" how can a yellow card be a valid decision? when new rules are brought in, they have (usually) been trialled for an extended period in lower leagues / friendly games, to test the hypothesis. then refs (eg Prem league refs) are given a lot of instruction before they go live. not clear to me how much planning has gone into these.
yes - starting with the kick-off that I was complaining about last year in th eVAR thread.... nonsense...
how the heck does the ref even communicate that? Flashes a red, the shakes his head and takes out a yellow?
The ref will now carry cards to cover all infractions. Lists to what they mean will be carried in all programs.
Watched most of the wwc Germany RSA match. As expected the German team were far too strong. The mens team could learn something from their 3rd goal, that header. It was good to see the South Africans as a mixed team. Some of those young ladies moved really good on the ball. But they tended to carry it too long. Prolly because their passing game was not very good at all. Looks to me like there are perhaps 6 teams in this tourney the rest are just fillers.
This is the best news I've heard all day!! It not only ensnares monsieur Platini but also the PSG/beIN transactions. https://www.football365.com/news/michel-platini-detained-over-awarding-of-world-cup-to-qatar
Just done my morning scan of the daily fail sports news. The usual Neymar whining. The Platini news. Made up journo stories. But! The biggest news is there's no news about Liverpool. Don't know if that's good or there's something brewing. It is the crazy season.
And run by PSG chairman. I didn't either. Guess I'm more into what happens on the pitch. But with no games I'm expanding my horizons.
Boris Johnson is beginning to look like Trump minus the tanning cream and hair spray... Boring silly season so far.
Just in case you were wondering. Astronomers can calculate an exact moment for the solstice, when Earth reaches the point in its orbit where the North Pole is angled closest to the sun. That moment will be at 11:54 a.m. Eastern Time on June 21this year. From Earth, the sun will appear farthest north relative to the stars. People living on the Tropic of Cancer, 23.5 degrees north of the Equator, will see the sun pass straight overhead at noon. https://www.rawstory.com/2019/06/what-is-the-summer-solstice-an-astronomer-explains/
It's amazing how humans keep continually making the same mistake ... take theis simple one with bad glue in record stores ... I swear that every record store I go into uses the same bad glue product .... and in every CR@P section the C has fallen off the title ... weird, huh???
I've been watching bits and pieces of the WWC, and it occurs to me that I've yet to see a fouled player react as if they'd been murdered. no screaming in agony. no rolling around the pitch. no tears. no magic near-death recoveries instantly followed by full-tilt runs. nobody waving imaginary cards. makes one ponder, dunnit.
