Honestly, I'm really glad that people have begun to display these flags on their homes and cars. It's easier to spot the bootlickers and racists, and it's great to see how open they've become. When you display this on your home or vehicle, I immediately know what a piece of shit you really are.
I can't find the clip, but there's a black comic (whose name I can't remember, which probably hinders my search) who has a bit that goes something like "I'm actually surprised white liberals want to get rid of the confederate flag. They don't realize how that will affect us. Seriously, it's how we tell y'all apart." Then later on he says, "if you get rid of that flag, we'll need you to wear bracelets or something."
I think the irony that is so delicious that it has to be fattening is that the same people who display these flags are the same people who bitch about players kneeling for the anthem are disrespecting the flag. You're literally altering the flag you ̶h̶u̶m̶p̶ love so much.
We have no such flag indicator up here. But since the election of current US president, as well as the election of Rob Ford's brother to the Ontario premiership, a stupidity* of bigots have decided to come out of the woodwork up here. *yes I am coining a collective noun.

I'm pretty sure it was Roy Wood Jr., who is probably best known as a current correspondent on the Daily Show, but he was on NPR's Fresh Air a few months ago talking about his comedy special and it opened with a part about the confederate flag which sounds just like what you described.
