Names of who we are keeping/not keeping should drop today. Saw Jeff Rueter last night at watch party. He still needed to finish his story for today. lol
Seeing Brek Shea out of contract makes me very very nervous. https://t.co/Gi5E3oirBt— Two United Fans✌️🗣 (@TwoUnitedFans) November 26, 2018 lol
HERE WE GO!....or rather, they they go! Leaving #MNUFC:Marc Burch IbsonMatt LampsonFernando BobJerome ThiessonCollen WarnerBertrand Owundi Eko’oFrantz PangopAlex KappHarrison Heath(Johan Venegas)There are only 16 rostered Loons, and Eric Miller could make 17 with a new deal. https://t.co/huTxyAhwer— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) November 26, 2018
ROSTERED PLAYERS GOALKEEPERS (1): Bobby Shuttleworth DEFENDERS (5): Michael Boxall, Francisco Calvo, Brent Kallman, Carter Manley, Wyatt Omsberg MIDFIELDERS (7): Ethan Finlay, Miguel Ibarra, Romario Ibarra, Collin Martin, Kevin Molino, Rasmus Schuller, Darwin Quintero FORWARDS (3): Abu Danladi, Mason Toye, Angelo Rodriguez
I think it may have to do with that he is on injured reserve. Still trying to get clarification. BUT HEY....ALL FOUR CB's are back.
Ignoring Johan Venegas (who was on loan), today's jettisoned #MNUFC players combined for $2,100,983 in guaranteed compensation. That's an unreal amount of salary budget room opening up. https://t.co/KfeV4EcP1Y— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) November 26, 2018
-Bit sad about Jerry and Ibson...understand the moves, but these are the characters I like on my team. -Martin...if you are not going to play him, why keep him? Must be cheap. -Kapp. What was the point of having/developing a young keeper...then not playing him....then getting rid of him.
I’m actually surprised they cut so many at one go but it needed to happen. The thing that scares me is how bad we have been at scouting and how much we now have to do to fill the void. I have some hope that if they do any sort of mediocre job we will have a better team this coming season.
Adrian Heath will trot out the innovative 2-2-2-1-1-2 formation, featuring zero outside backs, for next season... Shuttleworth Calvo-Kallman Schuller-Finlay Ibarra I-Ibarra II Molino Quintero Danladi-Rodriguez Atlanta needs to enjoy that MLS Cup this year, because next year IT'S OURS!!!! (Bench? We don't need no stinking bench!)
Well, it does mean they really are overhauling a squad. 2 GK. One of them will probably be the starter 2 FB's 1 CB (at least) 1 DM (I'd prefer two) 2-3 Wingers 1 CM 1 AM 1 head coach Then...and maybe then...we will get to that "core" I keep hearing about.
this messge doesn‘t even express nearly:-how much I want to thank you-how much it meant to me, playing for this badge and community-how much you gave me-how much fun I had-how much fam Thiesson loves MN-how much I don‘t like twitter to limit tweets so I can‘t express myself pic.twitter.com/weaQtLhWE9— Jérôme Thiesson (@j_thiesson) November 26, 2018
So...who do we leave unprotected for the expansion draft? Maybe THAT''S why we kept all the centerbacks...
(Note) Automatically Protected: Martin (Homegrown), Danladi (Gen Adidas), Toye (Gen Adidas) -- I think it has to be Boxall, Manley, and Molino. I am not a Molino hater, but I think the gamble is there...he is coming off injury and has a hefty salary. If he is picked, we still have some depth. I don't want to write off Manley either. I think he would be the exact player you want on loan for a year or two in USL.
Which, by my count, gives us a roster of 27 or 28, depending on what they do with Eric Miller. Max roster size is 30. I believe we also currently have four international slots open.
If they go full 30, I would hope they are getting some young guys some looks. would not mind having TWO DM's. Sounds about right on the international spots. I forget, did we lose one for the year when we traded Nicholson? Also affecting this is, is if Heath moves predominately to a 3-5-2.
I thought we bought it back from them in August... Gomez, Maximiano, Bob, and Pangop were all holding International spots.
BREAKING: Sources tell @TheAthleticMIN that Jan Kirchhoff was on trial this fall with #MNUFC. The former Bayern Munich and Sunderland CB/No. 6 is currently out of contract. https://t.co/EkixzQ8iHM— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) November 27, 2018
You know, if there isn't any cost associated with it, maybe Manny & Co. should file discovery claims on like half the French National Team...
You know, depending on the rules and what they do with Miller, they may not have to leave anyone unprotected. GAs (Danladi and Toye), Homegrowns (Martin) and DPs (Quintero and Rodriguez) are automatically protected and don't count against the list of 11. You take those 5 out, and Minnesota has 11/12 players on their roster, depending on Miller. Hmmm...wonder if Manny waits to sign anyone until after the draft?
Not a rumor, but a Jeff thought. Tommy Redding out of contract, and he got his first MLS start under #MNUFC coach Adrian Heath. Was also a Heath regular in 2016 before his dismissal. At 22, he could be a potential buy-low target for the Loons as they fortify their defense. https://t.co/CVJRVWrMzY— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) December 4, 2018
