France Argentina. As a neutral it's one of the most entertaining games I've watched at a world cup. That goal by Pavard was insane.
Belgium vs. Japan was nuts & my favorite game. However, I voted for Russia vs. Croatia because I was in Moscow for that game and the entire city / country was watching this game. The Russian fan reaction when Russia equalized in extra time was a priceless experience!
the second half of Belgium Japan was probably the best I have ever seen but as a whole 90 minutes France Argentina was the WC at its very best.
Belgium vs Japan for the great goals, the underdogs Japan having a chance to win the game, and of course the drama right through to the 90th minute. I'm puzzled about the France-Argentina game. I thought Argentina was completely outclassed right from the 1st minute. If it wasn't for a post, and some lucky bounces, France should have been up 3-0 in the first half. The game was an embarrassment, from my point of view.
Agreed. That was just a game of bad defending. Granted that could be entertaining but not entertaining enough to be #1. And the lack of evenness between the 2 teams drops it out of the top 5 IMO. The WC final was more entertaining and its not even in the above list. Both were basically 4-2 games, but at least Croatia looked somewhat convincing.
Consolation? Argentina nearly equalized with the last play of the game! Yes, France were head and shoulders above them...but that Argentina made a game of it is exactly why it was so entertaining. Honorable mentions for Argentina going through all the emotions against Nigeria, and the insanity that was the last matchday in Group B.

For me, Croatia England or Croatia Argentina, but I'm partial. I think Croatia Argentina was really amazing because that was the first sign that we had a chance at a deep run. I think Belgium Japan, as a neutral, for sure.
