I wouldn't blame you. While I suspect I'm in a small minority, I can't stand watching games from Mercedes Benz. The blue-tinted turf, the pyrotechnics, the amplified aural overkill. Within 5 minutes, I'll feel a seizure approaching and have to shut off the TV. The beautiful game, my ass. Though it probably serves me right for having the temerity to be an introvert.
That was before Ohio Stadium lowered the field, but there was still a track so I don’t know. Regardless, that was a time of a clock counting down and running dribble shootouts so a bunch of rules were being ignored [emoji23]
I never realized how narrow the field was at Ohio Stadium - look at the 10 yard from the corner on the goal line - it's inside the penalty area. NYCFC's 10 yard goal line has is outside the penalty area. You know, right down the first base line. It's so ugly, though.
The field itself at Yankee Stadium is the right size, but it's just the angle in comparison to the 3B/LF stands. Since the pitcher's mound is out of bounds, the "near" sideline is a long way from the first row of stands on that side. If they were able to level it and make the sideline +/- parallel to the stands there would be a lot more "good" seats on that side. Of course, the RF bleachers would be further away, but the stadium atmosphere overall would be much better.
And for god's sake it's 2020, they could absolutely do this. Tottenham Hotspur's stadium has an entire retractable pitch with an artificial one beneath it.
I was about to say something about it being easier to integrate this into new construction rather than have to retrofit it into old - which I think is true - but of course this would be pretty small potatoes for an organization like the Yankees to manage, regardless. And it's not even that pricey: https://www.courier-journal.com/sto...able-mound-saves-louisville-city-fc/24073431/
But but but it's the cathedral of baseball! Can't mess around with holy ground... Or something like that.

Having lived in China for a bit, I believe it. Saw them redo an intersection near my apartment in a couple of days. Probably would've taken months here. Communism ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not sure it's the economic system as much as the fact they can ignore whatever regulations they need to when push comes to shove.
Democracy has many virtues and is the best political system currently in operation on planet earth. Efficiency is not one of them.
That Stand going up which is the East stand, will have "mesh" seating. I'm really excited to see how it turns out. It's a way to keep the temperature of the seats down during Texas summer afternoons/evenings. And really just the 1:00 to 3:00 kickoffs are the only time there's going to be an issue. With later kickoffs will dip behind the West press box and the west stands.
You are not alone, I couldn't watch a full game from that stadium. It is not what soccer was meant to be. Atlanta's stadium was one of the final nails in my soccer coffin, I haven't watched any MLS games for two years now.

From my understanding, it's a very heavy duty industrial mesh, (it will have very little pliability or give, but allow for air to pass through and evidently will not retain heat like traditional plastic stadium seating. It's a very cool concept. Below is a link with a few pics that should give you an idea. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ktnv.com/news/mesh-seats-at-new-downtown-summerlin-ballpark-will-help-keep-fans-cool?_amp=true
Here's another article about the mesh seats: https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2018/06/18/Facilities/Company-Watch.aspx Lots of stadiums have them. I'm as big a proponent as anyone of any technology that moderates the scourge of stadium crack sweat. But if it's 100 degrees and humid, mesh seating is only going to accomplish so much.
For sure. I don't disagree. But, having one of the largest roofs for a SSS in the league, with open corners, with things like mesh seating, they are at least doing everything they can to reduce the impact of Texas summers.
I’m surprised they aren’t using any of the open air stadium air conditioning technology promised in Qatar’s Word Cup bid. Oh wait, that wasn’t real.
