Yeah, I enjoy that somehow the irrational ostracizing of Feilhaber during the last cycle is supposed to be evidence against MB90's privilege. I have little doubt that last cycle the in-form Feilhaber + Dmid would've qualified us for the cup over Bradley + player having to run around like a chicken.
In addition to BOSSing the midfield on the offensive side of the ball, here is MB90 shutting things down on the defensive side... pic.twitter.com/WK5n95hBba— _ (@21LBRB) July 8, 2019
This is pretty cool. Check out plays 7, 8 and 12. Three turnovers in a very short period for our veteran distributor. Gold Cup revisit: we called the 20min spell from morris' header to mexico's goal our worst since couva. That may have been too kind. Good to see our midfield linchpin has carried his form over from the GC...Name another player who can do this and maintain his spot in a relatively decent nat'l team setup...distribution, defense, experience! (starts at 25)
what are you talking about? they won 2-0!!! MB90 also had a nice square pass that the rest of the team turned into a scoring chance in the 85th min. Toronto got a bargain at $7M/year.
It's not even that. Nobody really praises him. It's just this unspoken rule not to criticize legitimately poor form/play. I've said it for 3-4 years now. If u have zero responsibility on offense, and zero responsibility on defense, then ur pretty much guaranteed to look good every game. Team doesn't score enough? Not on me, I'm a 6. Team gives up goals? Not on me, I'm a midfielder. Leagues highest payroll misses playoffs and us misses WC? Not on me, injuries and other players (offensively and defensively) underperforming.
Nice hockey assist. But the rest of the video looks like it’s a highlight reel for how badly MB played, not the game in general.
Um, isn't this why Morales is being brought up? If he had injury issues it makes sense along with Brooks, Adams, Chandler and Johnson (almost all of our German contingent) but one can be for a healthy Morales getting called in to challenge Bradley and Trapp without proclaiming him a savior. Even if he's only around a short time after the last cycle no one should have gotten a free ride and no one should again.
Alfredo is soon-to-be 30. Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with Morales being discussed or called up. But if we're talking about building for the future, its the Adams, McKennie, Pomykal crowd (and others) that we should be calling in. I do think that the perception of our midfield will change quite a lot once Adams is fit and included. Berhalter's going to come to his senses with regards to that right back experiment. You don't take your best midfielder and put him at right back.............when you have perfectly good right backs in the pool. And young right backs!
Well, I was replying to where you said where are the 26 year old types and he's 29 so pretty close. Not a world beater or guy you build a team around but if there were 15-20 more like him we wouldn't have missed the last WC and wouldn't have to judge whether it's better to rush players right now. There were so few of even his level of players that when a few of them got hurt the cupboard was bare. there are golden generations and s^&# generations and we are at the tail end of the second.
That way he can make sure to structure the team to give him the dedicated support to allow him to continue to stagger aimlessly around in the middle of the field to his heart's content.
I know, I was thinking the same thing. Garber loves to troll us on these boards. I think I just booked Bradley's spot in 2022.
