The Mexicans Abroad Thread: General Discussion

Discussion in 'Mexicans Abroad' started by JohnnyFutbol, Aug 27, 2014.

  1. Cheech did well. Would have been nice that hearder, but I do believe the goalie did touch it enought that Cheech couldn't hit it square. Either way, he should have scored. Was leverkusen's best player. Where was Bellarabi? Çalhanoğlu also went missing. D sucked.

    Layund did well.

    Chuy was not bad.

    Herrera incomplete.

    Layun was layun
Still pretty poor defending but had a great assist. That's him. He can help set up a goal then get burned on the next play.

Corona was average to non factor.

I checked out before Herrera came on so idunno how he did

Also a good Maza shot at 1.34, with them playing "Man, don't get annoyed", some popular German game.

This weekend is going to suck. Jonathan out, Chicharito out, Guardado out (?), Raul probably isn't going to play (last 20 minutes maybe?). That leaves the Porto & Real Sociedad matches on Sunday, PSV match (for Moreno) tomorrow, and that's about it .....

    Guardado is indeed confirmed out

But cheer up, wednesday you can see Guardado score the winner against Atletico Madrid, establishing his status as a legend for the next 50 years to come.

I think his move to the Ukraine as well as the death of his parents really ruined him. More the latter IMO. I still remember him fondly, I love the guy for what he did against Brazil.

Yeah, the death of his parents so close to one another is what really did him from what I can tell. You can't really think when you are depressed.

It's OK to say he was a merc .
He's the type of merc we want Good & has love for the color .
What we dont want is a player who is either or both of these, Bad and or No Love .

Like the trash Nad who left Chivas & Mex U teams for Vancouver and the USA :ROFLMAO:(Iirc)

No. He never played for another national team and was born in Mexico. His father was a bit cynical in waning him to play for Mexico knowing that it was going to be more lucrative for him from a sponsorship perspective over Uruguay or Greece. Had he chosen Greece that would be bordering on merc status but Nery had a unique situation. I wouldn't have considered him a merc for playing with any of those three countries.

Once he joined the team he was like a fish in water. The team embraced him and he made an instant connection with Cuahtemoc and became a favorite of both fans and teammates. They would joke about his accent and his inability to handle picante. Good times. He made the right choice ultimately. If I ever run into him I'll buy him a beer or 4.
